JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for the preparation and placement of purchase orders for assigned commodities, supplies, and services. Responsibility will include identification and development of qualified suppliers while seeking the lowest total cost on purchases while maximizing value. Appropriate documentation of purchasing related records will be maintained by the Buyer.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Coordinator with the Engineer Department to enter and track purchase orders pertaining to capital projects.

  • Negotiate Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) for all store parts programs.

  • Complete month end closure in all assigned areas.

  • Act as backup in processing purchase orders for the Stores Specialist in the purchase of all maintenance goods for Stores parts and the Purchasing Agent in the and Raw materials.

  • Negotiate agreements and pricing structures with Stores and MRO Suppliers

  • Work closely with Maintenance, Production, Stores and Engineering to understand stock and MRO needs.

  • Assist company targets to have JIT purchase requirements in assigned areas where primary importance is to have reliable source of supply while maintaining the right inventory levels.

  • Expedite on emergency material and service requirements.

  • Close interaction with accounting to ensure efficiencies in the requisition to payment process and timely payments with suppliers on all assigned commodities.

  • Responsible for maintaining all supplier applications, background checks (DNB) denied party screening with new suppliers as well as ensuing accuracy of existing suppliers in the computer system.

  • Validate all existing and incoming MSDS sheets on materials and ensure they are being processed and delivered to right departments at KT.

  • Work on department objectives to achieve cost competitive goals with suppliers and to work closely with assigned areas to company's competitive bid policy.

  • Support continuous improvement activities at the site and ensure procurement is selecting suppliers that offer the company a competitive advantage.

  • Enforces all company safety policies and procedures.

  • Complies with all company policies, procedures and safety requirements.

  • Upholds ISO/IATF requirements.

  • Responsible for and other duties such as backing up Purchasing Agent, and Production Planner as assigned by the Supply Chain Manager.

REGULATORY REQUIREMENTS:

Assist in the maintenance of all regulatory programs to meet applicable government standards.

QUALITY:

Supports, maintains and continually improves Knowlton Technologies, LLC Quality Management System in accordance with requirements of the IATF 16949 International Standard. Employee has the role and responsibility to follow the work instructions and Current Best Practices that support the KT Value Stream Maps.

HOUSEKEEPING:

Provide support for the housekeeping program that sets the standard for cultural change and instills individual pride in the workplace.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, management or finance (or equivalent work experience).

  • 2 - 5 years of stock inventory management in a manufacturing environment.

  • APP or CPM certification preferred, but not required.

  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

  • Leadership and organizational skills.

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to multi-task.

  • Ability to coordinate work with other internal departments.

  • High proficiency with MS Office, Excel and PowerPoint, Computerized Maintenance System. (CMMS).

  • High skill level with company computer systems.

  • Effective negotiator and problem solver.

  • Effective analytical, communications (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.

  • Effective team base work performance.

  • Cost effective procurement, maintenance, distribution and replacement of assigned commodities and services.

COMPUTER LITERACY:

Develop the skills necessary to operate computer hardware/software for the purpose of generating or retrieving information required in the performance of job responsibilities.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members of the business community. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

Ability to work with basic mathematical concepts to accurately report purchasing metrics such as cost savings, delivery performance, bid results, supplier benchmarking, supply market conditions and other assigned work.

REASONING ABILITY:

Ability to define problems collects data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock and risk of radiation.
