This position is responsible for coordinating all procurement activities, including the cost effective and timely purchasing of materials and services, expediting delivery of material, soliciting quotes, and supplier source selection. In addition, the buyer will be responsible for negotiations and sourcing direct and indirect materials and services.
Key responsibilities include:
Develops and implements sourcing strategies to ensure flexibility, supply assurance, and lowest total cost.
Monitors materials pipeline for any potential issues or disruptions and recommends corrective actions where necessary.
Expedites delivery of goods as required.
Works with Product Development to select products for purchase, estimating values according to knowledge of market price.
Negotiates and/or renegotiates and administers contracts with suppliers, vendors and other representatives.
Maintains computerized procurement records such as items or services purchased, cost, lead times, delivery and inventory stocking levels.
Studies sales records and inventory levels of current stock to develop strategic purchasing programs that facilitate employee access to supply.
Reviews parts pricing against profit goals, records sales price changes in operating system in response to pricing increases from outside vendors.
Initiates and manages new supplier qualification activities.
Identifies, qualifies (including site visits) and sets up new suppliers as business needs dictate.
Participates in process improvement initiatives.
Identifies and drives proactive cost reduction opportunities through competitive RFQs and supply sourcing activities.
Negotiates or support the negotiation and implementation of complex request for equipment, supplies, and services from suppliers and subcontractors.
Bachelors degree in business, materials management, or other related discipline, or equivalent amount of industry experience.
3 to 5 years professional buying experience applying fundamental concepts, practises and procedures in purchasing or materials management.
Must have a basic understanding of machining and manufacturing processes.
Must demonstrate negotiation skills, planning skills and interpersonal skills in order to interact with suppliers and co-workers in a team-based environment.
Demonstrated ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints/schematics.
Intermediate level skills in a major ERP system and Microsoft Office.
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Previous experience with 6S lean manufacturing preferred.
Greem Belt Certification is a plus.
Ability to understand and speak German language is a plus.
Covid-19 vaccination is required.
