Role Summary:

The role is responsible for the successful sourcing of new technologies related to In-Car IT and Innovation. Support the transformation of the VW group from an automotive manufacturer into a technology company.

The role must ensure that all goods and services for VWGoA that fall within his/her scope of responsibility are effectively and efficiently procured in a manner which meets all legal, ethical and VW Group global sourcing process standards.

The role will establish and maintain relationships with Business Units and suppliers to aid in determining the most appropriate and cost efficient solutions based on business needs.

Role Responsibilities:

  • This position will be responsible to procure In-Car IT products & Innovations

  • Adherence to corporate guidelines, procedures and policies

  • Assist in developing specifications, bid terms and contractual language for competitive bid processes according to the VW Group purchasing standards

  • Evaluate bids, negotiate terms and pricing, and select/recommend supplier.

  • Timely completion of sourcing processes.

  • Assist in developing contract terminology for complex, critical spending commitments

  • Provide resolution of purchasing-related problems with other functions within VWGoA and VW Group companies

  • Analyze supply base and competition with reference to price, capacity, and quality as well as monitor the integration of current and potential suppliers establishing a sound supplier base

  • Review and ensure quality of purchase requisition document and backup information.

  • Videoconference presentations to VWGoA and VW Group sourcing committees as necessary

  • Document sourcing activities through VW Group global purchasing system "GLOBE"

  • Assist supplier registration process on VWGroupSupply.com database

  • Develop and execute category management strategies cooperatively with VW business units to maximize commercial leverage

  • Assure process consistency with Volkswagen group requirements

  • Maintain an organized central purchase order filing system with audit back up material

  • Maintain current project tracking system that can be easily accessed and understood in buyer's absence

Years of experience:

  • 3 years of procurement experience; Innovation / In-Car IT expertise preferred

Education:

Required: Bachelor degree or equivalent in business or other relevant field of study

Desired: MBA

Required Specialized Skills:

  • Innovation driven and affinity to new business models

  • Strong understanding of the automotive digitalization challenges and start-up community

  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively at all levels within the organization and with outside vendors / suppliers

  • Flexibility and professionalism in dealing with suppliers and internal customers with proven negotiation and problem solving skills

  • Experience in handling multi-million dollar procurement projects

  • Ability to manage collaborative strategic procurement projects across multiple brands, business units and/or affiliate locations

  • Influencing and negotiation skills

  • Strong presentation skills

  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (especially Excel)

Desired:

  • German language capability

  • Ability to network across cultures/languages

  • Experienced in data-driven decision analysis

Travel:

  • Travel domestically as well as internationally (Germany / Mexico) (10% /-)

All Hands meetings and written updates). * You may be producing an onstage presentations or internal employee updates.
