IMI Adaptas is part of global engineering organization IMI plc, positioned within the Precision Engineering Division.

Role Overview

The Buyer will provide day to day tactical procurement support for the purchase of MRO items and commodities. They will also provide procurement support to ensure the use of suppliers of best performance to Norgren relative to quality, on-time delivery, total cost, and service. The individual must be able to effectively and efficiently communicate information internally and externally. The Junior Buyer will purchase components and materials from external suppliers.

Work Location: Onsite, Palmer, MA

Key Responsibilities

  • Place orders with indirect MRO and commodity suppliers.

  • Prepare purchase order, claims, bids, proposals, and other commercial documents.

  • Expedite shipments to assure parts are delivered on schedule, at the negotiated price, and meets quality standards.

  • Communicate company requirements (price, delivery, specification revision) via timely and accurate transmission of purchase orders and change order to suppliers.

  • Follow up and expedite open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery.

  • Gather and update vendors' data in database.

  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with other divisional functions and departments.

  • Support and adhere to divisional and corporate policies and procedures.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Critical Competencies for Success

  • Place orders with indirect MRO and commodity suppliers.

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals and policies and procedures.

  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence procedures, and work instructions.

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, peers, and vendors.

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, proportions, and percentages.

  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

  • Ability to prioritize problem solving tactics and long-term projects to report results efficiently.

  • Ability to navigate through records in databases' tables.

  • Thorough understanding of MRP logic, schedules, and typical MRP system features

  • Specific industry knowledge of components that are fundamental to company products.

  • Associate degree in supply chain management or similar field.

  • Minimum 2 years of related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. (4 additional years of experience is accepted in lieu of an associate degree.)
