This position is with RJ Reynolds Tobacco Companythe second-largest U.S. tobacco company. The company's brands include Newport, Camel and Pall Mall.
This position is responsible for the end-to-end Procurement process within the Indirect Materials and Services area of responsibility, which includes buying responsibility for materials and services for up to one or more operating companies under a service agreement for all RAI affiliate companies.
Indirect Procurement is seeking a qualified buyer to source scientific related studies including but not limited to analytical chemistry, clinical and non-clinical for new and existing products in support of RAI's vision of transforming tobacco and reducing tobacco-related health risks. Other categories may be expanded for cross development. The successful candidate will join our RJRT Indirect Procurement Materials and Services team in Winston-Salem, NC.
Ability to drive collaborative efforts cross-functionally and externally with outsourced vendors.
Ability to develop and drive key strategies at the department level.
Ability to work and make decisions with minimal supervision.
Demonstrated project management, time management and team collaboration skills.
Demonstrated interpersonal, written/oral communication and presentation skills.
Knowledge of and/or experience with FDA regulated environment.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
Manages day-to-day supplier interfaces including Purchase Orders, discrepancies, deliveries, etc.
Analyzes quotations and makes sourcing recommendations.
Communicates with clients, suppliers, and other Procurement staff to ensure the timely delivery of, and payment for, required materials or services.
Collaborates with client groups to define and communicate item or service specifications, or requirements.
Utilizing third party resources facilitates the creation and management of contracts, RFX initiatives and auctions in the eProcurement tool and the execution of accompanying purchase orders.
Supports strategic planning and the Procurement process for assigned commodities and services while exercising good business and analytical skills.
Implement performance guarantee contracts to minimize RJRT risk and increase supplier accountability for non-performance.
Develops, manages, and maintains supply relationships which provide a competitive advantage.
Requests and applies market research and analysis for recommendations made to client groups.
Makes decisions independently on problems and methods in order to arrive at recommendations for management.
Participates as member of sourcing team.
Performs spend analysis.
Associate Degree in Business or related field and 4+ years relevant work experience; or
Bachelor's Degree in Business or related field of study and 2+ years of relevant work experience
Experience in project management with demonstrated learning and or certification
Experience with negotiating contractual terms and obligations.
Strong analytical and organizational skills
Strong verbal, and written communication skills
Strong functional knowledge of computers and information systems
Self-motivated, energetic, flexible, and adaptable to change
Broad understanding of procurement categories and/or commodities
Experience working in a regulated environment
CPSM (Certified Professional of Supply Management) preferred
Experience using eProcurement tools
Experience using SAP
Knowledge of clinical research, biology, chemistry, toxicology or related discipline
