Your next role as a Miracle Maker

Maravai LifeSciences is seeking a #MiracleMaker to join our Purchasing team as a Buyer II. As a Buyer II you will provide procurement support for various project requirements delegated by the Associate Director, Procurement & Strategic Sourcing. This individual will be responsible for placing orders for materials and services to be incorporated into Manufacturing and/or Operations, including handling communications with suppliers to ensure timely delivery at a competitive price. As a Procurement Specialist, the role encompasses various critical responsibilities to ensure seamless material management and procurement efficiency in a manufacturing environment.

How you will make an impact:

  • Strategic Production Schedule Management:

  • Collaborate with the Planning Department to oversee long-term production schedules, ensuring optimal material readiness for ongoing operations.

  • Efficient Purchase Order Generation:

  • Promptly generate purchase orders through diverse channels such as NetSuite, zero picks, reorder points, emails, and verbal requests, aligning with business requirements.

  • Timely Order Expediting and Communication:

  • Take charge of expediting open purchase orders, following up diligently, and communicating estimated delivery dates to facilitate timely production scheduling.

  • Interdepartmental Issue Resolution:

  • Represent the Procurement department in addressing and resolving issues that may arise with other departments, fostering effective collaboration.

  • Purchase Order Management:

  • Proactively manage the closure of all open purchase orders pending approvals, ensuring streamlined and organized procurement processes.

  • Supplier Relationship Management:

  • Cultivate professional relationships with suppliers by providing sufficient lead times and ensuring transparent communication of updates to end-users.

  • Cost-Saving Initiatives:

  • Actively contribute to cost-saving corporate initiatives through participation in bidding processes, supplier consolidation efforts, and material standardization activities.

  • Quality Process Integration:

  • Demonstrate a general understanding of quality processes and their impact on procurement in a manufacturing setting, ensuring alignment with industry standards.

  • Financial Accuracy and Collaboration:

  • Evaluate the accuracy of assigned general ledger accounts for all generated and submitted purchase orders, collaborating closely with the Accounts Payable team to resolve invoice issues.

  • Receiving Discrepancy Resolution:

  • Interact with the Receiving Department and suppliers to promptly resolve discrepancies in received items and coordinate returns as necessary.

  • Inventory Procurement Oversight:

  • Take responsibility for procuring inventory purchases from approved suppliers, maintaining a balance between efficiency and cost-effectiveness.

  • Process Optimization and Root Cause Analysis:

  • Identify and communicate process issues, present potential streamlining solutions, and actively contribute to root cause analysis efforts for all material shortages.

  • Guidance and Training:

  • Provide minimal guidance and training support to lower-level buyers, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing work environment.

  • Adaptable Role:

  • Perform additional functions and duties as required, showcasing flexibility and a commitment to meet evolving organizational needs.

The skills and experience that you will bring:

  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience in a similar biotechnology/life science industry

  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems required. NetSuite expertise preferred

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office

  • Expertise with effective negotiation and managing suppliers

  • Working knowledge of Accounting practices

  • Completes work assigned in a reliable, consistent manner while working successfully as an individual and within a team environment

  • Personable, good listener, and with excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Self-motivated and able to organize and prioritize multiple tasks

The anticipated salary range for this position is $75,000 - $83,000. In addition, highly competitive long-term incentives in the form of company equity, bonus participation and company sponsored benefits are provided as part of the total compensation package. The salary offer will depend on multiple factors which may include the successful candidate's skills, experience and other qualifications, as well as the location of the role.
