We are looking for an experienced, engaged and diverse professional with experience as a defense industry buyer, more specifically in the combat vehicle space.

  • Coordinate all business and internal actions between us and our suppliers
  • Communicate parts availability issues to assigned Tactical Leader and GPSC as needed
  • Provide information and manage the supplier relationships in our interface
  • Conduct component Technical Reviews with Suppliers and our internal engineering teams
  • Monitor and coordinate incoming supplier shipments ensuring compliance & procedures (Section-J)
  • Create and maintain weekly purchasing metrics that measure supplier & department performance
  • Participate in lean events and other continuous improvement training
  • Support New Model/Platform launches in Production/Manufacturing
  • Responsible for answering MRP messages received via our ERP system
  • Create debits memos, and credit memos as needed
  • Understand and utilize Oshkosh Portal system to communicate and train suppliers
  • Follow all procedures that ensure compliance to all government regulations and public laws
  • Provide timely feedback to manufacturing and purchasing management
  • Support timely completion of projects assigned that support department goals
  • Requirements

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering or related field
    • Internship experience
    • Experience working within defense contracting is preferred
    • Experience working within the combat vehicle industry is also preferred

SUMMARY The Chief Engineer will provide guidance and expertise on combat vehicles supporting the US Army PEO Ground Combat Systems portfolio. This role will direct engineering analysis and design in accordance with engineering standards and project scope to serve our customers and provide best in class vehicles. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Leads project technical team in the performance of all engineering activities, including concept of operations formulation, requirements definition, analysis and engineering, system architecting, systems analysis and design, interface and data architectures, validation and verification, systems integration, systems operational performance analysis, Lifecycle cost analysis & estimation, decision analysis and physical configuration analysis (PCA). * Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints * Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software or engineering specifications * Serve as the POC for engineering discussions with the program external subcontractors * Participate in the budgeting process to include recommending capital improvements and preparing justification data as required * Researches, studies, and proposes use of new technologies to be used in the development of new and improved products Communicate project objectives to team members * Enforce the proper use of engineering criteria and drawing standards. * Ensure that technical issues are conducted within the framework of company policies and procedures * Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability * Create and maintain project documentation for analysis, research, and historical records * Perform job duties in an ethical, professional manner which is consistent with the Oshkosh Way. * Conduct duties consistent with the Company's mission statement, quality objectives, and defined policies and procedures * Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, and production support * Provide guidance to team members to ensure the appropriate engineering analysis is performed and documented * Establishes priorities for work delegated to others * Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations * Present and articulate in a clear manner design solutions and technical issue resolutions to Oshkosh Senior Leadership and to Government customers * Conduct DFMEA, DVP&R, 8D analysis on product designs BASIC QUALIFICATIONS * Bachelor's of Science in Engineering * 10-plus years of Combat Vehicle Design experience * Able to obtain a U.S. Secret or higher security clearance PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS * Some experience with a high level CAD system and/or Government TDPs. * PMP certification * Possess a strong mechanical knowledge of vehicles and related systems * Strong verbal and written communication skills * Excellent time management and organizational skills Oshkosh is committed to working with and offering reasonable accommodation to job applicants with disabilities.
