Buyer Associate

Ferguson is seeking individuals who are interested in purchasing and logistics that posses the following qualifications:

  • Strong customer service skills

  • Detail oriented with a high level of accuracy

  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, and above average math skills

  • Ability to handle pressure and work effectively within deadlines

  • Bachelor's Degree (Business, Computer Science, Communications preferred but not necessary)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Execute purchasing strategies and handle a full buying schedule

  • Requirements associated with buying:

  • Review and identify items for purchase

  • Monitor service levels at our distribution centers and external vendors

  • Analyze purchasing reports and buy products accordingly

  • Interact with vendor and branch contacts to maintain proper stocking levels

  • Develop expediting skills

  • Have a solid understanding of our branch/store operations

  • Develop ability to communicate and negotiate with vendors

  • Understand vendor metrics; monitor and maintain objectives

  • Display ability to identify areas for improvement and assist in solution development

  • Work independently while having strong teamwork skills

  • Develop basic inventory management skills:

  • Inventory investment analysis

  • Surplus / return opportunities

  • Penalties and exemptions

  • Working capital and return on investment
