JOB DESCRIPTION:
Creates a classroom environment favorable to learning and personal growth of students enrolled in an education setting. Establishes effective rapport with students. Motivates students to develop skills, attitudes and knowledge needed to provide a good foundation for becoming a responsible citizen in accordance with each pupil's ability.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports departmental and system goals through implementation and review of designated instructional programs.
Supports all CTE programs in all K-8, middle and high schools.
Create a Training Plan for each WBL participant.
Complete training agreement with required signatures. It is through this training agreement that the essential functions are outlined and agreed to by the training mentor, student, coordinator, parent, and school administrator Cooperates with local/state business leaders to ensure program and employment compatibility in this area.
Recommends appropriate equipment for all high and middle school programs.
Encourage students to become active in a CTSO related to their career objectives, career pathways, and career clusters.
Prepare students for Work-Based Experiences/Apprenticeships or Internships, expectations.
Inform all students within the system of the WBL opportunity
Conduct an annual follow-up with employers.
Conduct an annual self-evaluation to facilitate continuous improvement.
Develops, with cooperation of relevant staff, annual and long-term education programs and plans to meet demands of students with the business and industry in terms of employment.
Conducts annual community survey to determine business needs and standards.
Monitors existing instructional practices and learning environments in the school system and supports their improvement
Directs the development of new curricula to meet the changing job market requirements.
Maintains continuous contact with business and industry through effective Advisory Committee activities.
Maintains contact with vendors to keep abreast of state-of-the art equipment and procedures.
Participates in professional organizations on the local, state, regional, and national levels.
Supports all CTE student organizations as an integral part of instruction.
Maintains continuous contact with post-secondary institutions for the purpose of program articulation and contact with special interest professional organizations to keep abreast of current procedures in business and industry.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
A bachelor's degree or above in education
Must hold a valid Class B or higher teacher certificate in CTE
Must have work-based learning coordinator endorsement on teacher certificate
Must have five years classroom experience in CTE
Must meet Every Student Succeed Act (ESSA) federal and state requirement or a willingness to meet the requirements within the designated timeframe
Knowledge of technology equipment, computers and software applications used in business and industry
Ability to work in a cooperative team environment and be effective in resolving conflicts and problems in a timely manner
Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the CTE Coordinator find appropriate and acceptable
