Responsibilities include support across all Vigor companies with a focus on system and business process improvements in the areas of human resources, payroll, timekeeping, as well as general operations conducted through the ERP system. There will be limited day-to-day operational Kronos and IFS support activities, as a back-up only -- the focus of this position is on business analysis and system configuration to bring about meaningful process improvements.
This position will work with the business unit subject matter experts to identify solution requirements, and to design, configure, and train on the solutions while using either traditional or Agile Project management methodology. This role also facilitates and champions key deliverables and redesign efforts with business stakeholders. Provides support to cross-functional team members.
Position requires high degree of technical and communication skills as well as a strong ability to understand business operations.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:
Identifies human resources, payroll, timekeeping, and ERP general operations best practices and recommends them to management to increase application efficiency, data integrity, compliance and end user productivity.
Identifies and initiates innovations and solutions utilizing Kronos Workforce Central, Kronos Workforce Timekeeper, and IFS where precedents and procedures may not exist. Works cross-functionally to solve problems and implement changes.
Identifies and responds to requests for Kronos and IFS training needs; develops and provides both group and individual Kronos and IFS training to end users.
Creates and tests application configuration relating to Kronos Timekeeper and Workforce Scheduler pay rules, work rules, pay codes, holiday table, accrual rules, profiles, Labor Level entries and sets, Hyperfind queries, Function Access Profiles, and Genies.
Creates Leave Plan configurations, related tables, group enrollment criteria, group enrollments and leave plan balances.
Configures IFS as needed to implement process improvements.
Participates as a core team member on Kronos & IFS upgrades and conversions.
May work with senior management in resolving more complex problems.
Actively participates in cross-functional groups to solve problems.
Mediates stalemates within and among groups to move group forward to successful business process improvements.
Identifies the people critical to resolving problems and reaching decisions and brings them together.
Utilizes a network of relationships to collect and disseminate information, build support, and secure buy-in for desired objectives.
Must be able to influence people, causing understanding and support of process changes.
Provides mentoring and coaching to project team members as an advisor, rather than through a direct supervisory role.
May be asked to act as project manager on small initiatives.
This position works within established parameters and requires regular use of sound judgment to make recommendations on business process improvements within job authorities. Impact of recommendations and work is broad and could potentially reach across all business units and support departments. The incumbent is responsible for planning, recommending, configuring, supporting, and defining reports for Kronos HR, Payroll, and Timekeeping software and IFS ERP system.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY: None
It is expected that 25-50% of the time will be spent in the field working directly with business unit personnel. The incumbent communicates regularly through both verbal and written form in understandable terms with all levels of the company, including senior executives. The incumbent may coach more junior team members.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of prevalent IT methodologies, management practices, architectures, system development lifecycles and best practices.
Expertise in business process analysis.
Expertise in business processes and configuration knowledge for human resources, payroll, and timekeeping areas as well as general company operations as supported through ERP system.
Strong analytical ability.
Ability to create detailed, high-quality documentation which meets the needs of the various project stakeholders.
Ability to organize and lead small systems improvement projects.
Working knowledge of Kronos Workforce Central and Workforce Timekeeper functionality and ability to configure Kronos system or similar HRIS package.
Working knowledge of IFS functionality and ability to configure IFS or a similar ERP system.
Experience working as part of highly collaborative project teams, with ability to effectively coordinate schedules and activities with project team and project manager.
Strong communications skills, including presentation and meeting facilitation abilities.
Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with people at all levels in organization.
Business process viewpoint with understanding of Kronos & other systems impacts.
Able to work independently without close supervision and exercise independent judgment and discretion.
Must be a well-organized, detail and customer (internal) oriented self-starter.
Must be able to handle competing priorities and deadlines effectively and respond well to last minute, high priority, and time sensitive projects and must be able to reprioritize effectively as business needs change.
Ability to efficiently schedule, direct and organize work and coordinate work with other departments.
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
Must have 3+ years hands-on experience as a Business Systems Analyst, Systems Analyst, Technical Analyst or a related discipline with focus on HRIS and/or ERP system implementations & upgrades
Minimally requires education and/or experience equivalent to a Bachelor's degree;
Must maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
Formal project management training preferred, but not required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work is conducted in a dynamic, fast-paced office setting. The individual may be required to be in production areas in yard and onboard ships. He/she must be able to walk to and from job sites. He/she may be required to work more than 8-hour shifts and weekend work.
