This is a great opportunity for an individual who has a background in risk or project management, particularly with loan origination or credit evaluation experience, to establish a business support program for the commercial bank Loan Administration unit. We will leverage your expertise to support management with risk management and business enablement related activities. You will represent Loan Administration as key representative interfacing with other first and second line business units at SVB, facilitating change management and project coordination efforts.

Specific responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring control framework execution in Loan Administration and partner with 2nd line Credit Administration to transition critical controls to the 1st line of Defense

  • Interface with credit risk managers and senior credit officers to perform risk assessments and identify key risks

  • Operate as strategic business advisor, assisting the Loan Administration business unit navigate change management

  • Collaborates with process owners to develop process enhancements and gain efficiencies. Proposes changes to processes and controls to address the Bank's dynamic growth, where new or complex risks are introduced and need to be mitigated

  • Execute the project management of regulatory MRA/MRIA issues and IA deliverables

  • Develop cadence on program activities such as risk assessments, walkthroughs with auditors, control execution demonstrations, and coordination of controls monitoring and testing exercises

  • Coordinate update and maintenance of program documentation, including business procedures

  • Assess control issues and partner with business owners to help identify and articulate the root cause, analyze the actual and potential impact, and develop corrective action plans

  • Interface with second line Credit Administration and other constituents involved in the CECL control environment to provide updates on control development and execution

  • Support training and competence activities for colleagues within Loan Administration

  • Foster community and culture of sound risk management practices


  • Leadership skills and be able to independently manage complex tasks

  • Strong loan origination and/or credit evaluation technical skills

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

  • Ability to influence, negotiate, and persuade peers, colleagues and managers across business and divisional lines to deliver on complex, technical or sensitive topics with companywide impact

  • Self-starter who proactively will reach out as needed

  • Ability to work tight timelines and manage multiple competing priorities while delivering sound results


  • Bachelor's Degree in management, finance, economics, related field or equivalent experience

  • Experience with internal controls including process control design, preparation of flowcharts & control matrices, documentation and testing of controls, and identification and reporting of control "gaps" required

  • Proven track record project managing Regulatory and Internal Audit issues to remediation

  • Prior experience managing strategic initiatives and/or projects

  • 7+ years working in the financial services industry

  • Experience in loan underwriting or credit evaluation preferred

  • Large Financial Institution experience is a plus, but not required.
