What You Need to Know:

  • This is a paid 12-week summer internship.

  • Our Internship Program start dates are determined by your academic calendar! If on Semester system, your internship begins May 27th, 2020. If on Quarter system, your internship begins June 15th, 2020.

VIEW JOBS 3/17/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-06-15T00:00 <p>The Community and Alumni Engagement internship position provides support to both Alumni Engagement and Community Engagement teams. Our Alumni Engagement program ensures that wish families stay connected with us in a meaningful way and are being engaged to continue to join us in celebrating and sharing our mission with other families. Our Community Engagement program is focused on introducing Make-A-Wish to new individuals and reaching more children and volunteers in various communities throughout Illinois. Internship activities include phones calls and communication with wish families, assisting with coordination and preparation of Alumni and community events, development of Wish stories, mailings, data entry, research, attending community and alumni events as schedule allows, and other tasks as needed.</p><p><strong>Daily Assignments Include:</strong></p><ul> <p>• Assist with coordinating calendar of weekly engagement and conduct calls to new alumni families </p> <p>• Event support for alumni and outreach assistance for external community events as assigned </p> <p>• Research, writing, and preparing of wish stories</p> <p>• Coordinating mailings</p> </ul><p> • Assisting in organizing off-site community outreach and alumni engagement activities</p><ul> <p>• Assisting with data entry </p> <p>• Additional outreach projects as needed</p> </ul><p><strong>Time Commitment: </strong>Two - three full days per week from June to August and the ability to attend an orientation on Monday, June 1st. </p><p><strong>Requirements</strong></p><p><strong>Skills and Abilities:</strong></p><ul> <li>Fluency in Spanish preferred, but not required</li> <li>Strong attention to detail</li> <li>Well-developed communication skills - comfortable speaking with wish families, compassionate, charismatic, good listener, clear and thoughtful in tone and delivery</li> <li>Proficiency with Microsoft Office</li> <li>Familiarity with Raiser’s Edge and Google Voice is a plus</li> <li>Public Speaking</li> <li>Ability to work in a fast paced, collaborative environment</li> <li>Desire to contribute to the mission of Make-A-Wish</li> </ul><p><strong>Preferred Qualifications:</strong></p><ul><li>Coursework in marketing, journalism, advertising, communications, public relations, and/or Events Management</li></ul><p><strong>Additional Requirements:</strong></p><ul> <li>Must be able to commute to our downtown Chicago office (we are located in the River North neighborhood)</li> <li>Minimum age for all internships is 18</li> <li>Selected candidates will be asked to participate in a criminal background check.</li> <li> <strong>Cover Letter Required</strong> </li> </ul><strong><p>***Preferred candidates will be contacted to schedule interviews.
