Purpose of Job

P&C Strategy & Planning is building a new team called Portfolio Analytics to enhance the capability of data analysis, reporting and insights on P&C's strategic progress and strategic investments. We are seeking three Business Strategy Analyst Senior positions in order to build analytical skills and technical expertise as a foundational competency within S&P. This team will be responsible for reporting on strategic progress, gathering and sharing insights for better decision-making, and managing our strategic investment levels.

Uses quantitative and qualitative analysis to provide thought-leadership on evolving industry trends, market developments, USAA's strategic direction, regulatory environment, and macroeconomic trends for the business unit. Provides insights and information-based context for key stakeholders in the business unit to effectively manage, influence, and impact line of business strategy.

Job Requirements

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to identify key business assumptions and hypotheses around line of business strategy. Continuously refines hypotheses and identifies business questions to explore further.

  • Develops the analytical framework and blueprint to answer business questions identified in the business portfolio, product, or member experience.

  • Collaborates with key stakeholders to evaluate and uncover strategic insights related to Profit & Loss performance including Product Strategy, Pricing, Marketing, Sales, Credit Risk, Distribution Channels, and Member Experience.

  • Applies analytical rigor to define outcome measures, improve prioritization, increase agility in decisioning, improve ability to evaluate progress towards business outcomes, and to evaluate risks to strategic goals.

  • Leverages advanced data-driven problem-solving techniques to manipulate and interpret business data. Translates findings into insights for strategy management and execution.

  • Communicates the significance of strategic insights to the senior leaders and other key stakeholders.

  • May provide guidance and on-the-job training to less experienced team members.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Science, Finance, Economics or related discipline. 4 additional years of related experience beyond the minimum required may be substituted in lieu of a degree.

  • 6 or more years of experience in data/analytics, strategy consulting, or related business experience, OR Master's Degree and 4 or more years of experience in data/analytics, strategy consulting, or related business experience

  • Project management experience

  • Experience with hypotheses-driven problem solving

  • Experience bringing analytics to action using visualization tools (e.g. Tableau)

  • Experience influencing business decisions

  • Experience performing complex data analysis

  • Qualifications may warrant placement in a different job level*

Preferred

  • 5 or more years of experience working in a strategic planning and analysis environment.

  • Knowledge and experience in P&C insurance industry (products, marketing, finance)

  • Experience in data visualization and analysis at the strategic portfolio level (financials, resourcing, benefits realization)

  • Exceptional stakeholder management and experience supporting executives on strategic measurement

  • Highly competent in hypothesis-driven problem solving and integrated systems thinking to develop actionable insights

This position consults on the development, specification and integration of WellMed's enterprise systems and will analyze business needs, document requirements, write and execute test cases and plans, and oversee and participate in the testing processes. (I removed the portion regarding technical and function documents as that won't be a role) Primary Responsibilities: * Captures objectives based on business unit needs combined with a thorough understanding of enterprise business systems and industry requirements * Performs a role in the development and implementation of major systems. This role may interface with multiple business units such as accounting / finance, claims, operations, physician clinics, customer service, executive management, and sales and marketing * Applies knowledge of managed care operating environment and underlying systems data to all major production systems used for delivery of services to internal and external clients * Develops and maintains strong relationships with both internal/externals customers at the senior management and executive level in order to influence project teams and gain consensus on the selection of the most viable solutions * Oversees and manages workflow sessions with external customers to capture current state, then utilizing business knowledge and service requests to create and execute future state documentation and processes * Lead and facilitate routine external client status update calls, where issues will be identified, tracked and resolved * Document, create and update process flows, documentation and diagrams * Uses strong critical thinking skills along with managed care, or physician office business knowledge to have insight and understanding of business concepts, tools and processes that are needed for making sound decisions in the contact of the company's business * Performs quality assurance application testing to include: validation of design to business requirements, writing test plans, conducting functional and performance testing to include application and system integration testing * Tracks progress and notifies management of issues that require escalation, and assumes responsibility for resolving or coordinating the resolution of system and process issues * Collaborates on and oversees various projects as assigned that are cross-functional in nature * Performs all other related duties as assigned You'll be rewarded and recognized for your performance in an environment that will challenge you and give you clear direction on what it takes to succeed in your role as well as provide development for other roles you may be interested in.
