Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Business Specialist the School of Communication and Information. The Business Specialist is responsible for human resources transaction processing, including preparing appointments, time and labor, purchasing, and expense reports. pre-award and post-award administration of externally-funded projects, and administration of financial systems and controls for the School of Communication and Information.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.

  • Two (2) years of professional experience in a financial/accounting function, preferably in an institution of higher education.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrates comprehensive Computer fluency, especially familiarity with spreadsheet and database software.

  • High level of organizational skills, excellent communication skills, and a strong customer service orientation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in a financial/accounting function, preferably in an institution of higher education.

  • Knowledge of university policies and procedures.

  • Familiarity with procurement, human capital management system, Expense Report system, and other university applications.
