The Physician Practice Business Office Supervisor is responsible for monitoring the functions of the Billing Coordinator and Coders for all practices under the auspice of physician services and overseeing the Oncology/Radiation Clinics at Havasu Regional Medical Center. This position has the responsibility of reporting incidents, patient and/or employee issues, work related accidents, and any other unusual events to the Director of Physician Practices. The Business Services Supervisor ensures staffing requirements are met in the areas of supervision.

Monitors all business functions and quality control on patients' accounts; coordinates with credit and collection staff the evaluation of patients' insurance coverage and determines whether the patients' benefits are exhausted.
Implements appropriate billing and collection procedures ensuring that the outpatient accounts receivable records are kept in accordance with established procedures; maintains appropriate internal controls over accounts receivable and cash receipt functions; provides for thorough follow-through and resolution of complaints or problems received from patients, staff, other departments, administration, or medical staff.
Assists with developing specific departmental goals, standards, and objectives which directly support the strategic plan and vision of the organization. Ensures maximum employee and departmental performance by conducting on-going analysis and providing appropriate training and developmental opportunities. Review a variety of reports on a daily basis to ensure staff are productive and to ensure any problems are resolved quickly.
Manages staff relations including performance management, staff satisfaction, and conflict management.
Performs and oversees scheduling, staff development, recruitment, payroll, and student engagements.
Monitors regulatory compliance, departmental contracts, and vendor relations. Helps develop, maintain, and adhere to the annual departmental budget. Prepare departmental schedule to ensure appropriate staffing levels at all times while remaining within budget guidelines.
Provides validation, reviews, audits, documentation and training for the area of knowledge, sharing information with finance, medical records and other revenue producing area or departments. Supports special projects and business analysis as requested.
Creates and fosters an environment that encourages professional growth. Maintains own professional growth through appropriate organizations, workshops, seminars and other self-directed education
Ensures timely and complete billing and collections by monitoring and developing the subordinate staff to provide the highest level of service and performance, and maintains on-going positive communications with patient, staff, physicians, and other third parties to provide information or resolve issues
Responsible for supervising the daily activities and functions of the billing and coding for physician practices and assigned ancillary service lines, including Clinical Documentation Improvement Accurately codes diagnoses and procedures on Outpatient accounts according to ICD-10-CM and CPT-4 principles and conventions as well as hospital and corporate coding policies.
Engages in and supervises the explanation of Hospital policy regarding patient accounts. Responsible for supervising the daily activities and functions of the billing and coding for physician practices, including the Clinical Documentation Improvement Specialist.
Assists with resolving billing edits pertaining to modifier/charge issues. Responsible for accurately coding and will code according to ICD-10-CM and CPT principles and conventions as well as Hospital and Corporate coding policies. Performs other duties as assigned.

High School or GED equivalent

Must possess the ability to effectively function in a stressful environment. Must possess the ability to use the following equipment; Telephone/Overhead Paging System/Fax Machine/Calculator/Computer. As pertinent to the position, must be able to use computer, telephone, calculator and adapt to new technology as it becomes available and necessary for the job.
Must be detail-oriented; able to organize and prioritize work schedule to meet deadlines. Must be self-directed and motivated to achieve successful outcomes. Must be able to follow established procedures.
Must have knowledge of all types of coding. Must have strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Effective human relations skills are required for interfacing with team members, all levels of staff, physicians other contacts.
