Introduction

The Prince William County Department of Public Works, Solid Waste Division is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Business Services Analyst to join our progressive administrative team. This position provides critical support in the areas of technical writing, data management, technology integration, and regulatory compliance. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor's or higher degree with at least four years of hands-on experience related to data management and technical writing. About This Role:

In the role of Business Services Analyst, you will dive into a variety of analytical tasks, with an emphasis on data management, technical writing, and regulatory support. Accuracy with numerical data, critical thinking skills, and proficiency in communicating complex information verbally and in writing are key to success in this position. Collaborative teamwork, the ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships, and a commitment to delivering exceptional customer service to the public are attributes we value. In this role, you may also supervise other administrative staff, including prioritizing, assigning, and reviewing financial and administrative work.

Responsibilities in this role mayinclude, but are not limited to:

  • Serve as backup in the absence of the Senior Business Services Analyst to lead an administrative team that provides financial, payroll, asset management, customer service, and human resource support;

  • Assist with administering the solid waste fee billing system database, including fee analysis, calculation, tracking, updating, and responding to inquiries;

  • Administer the Hauler Permitting Program, including interpreting regulations, entering and tracking data, scheduling inspections, and corresponding with and providing guidance to the regulated community;

  • Define operational and programmatic issues and generate innovative ideas to develop or improve existing systems including software solutions and technology integration;

  • Perform analysis of financial, performance, and operational data; create reports and data visualizations; and develop recommendations for process improvement;

  • Coordinate Board item development and submission to the Board of County Supervisors on behalf of the Solid Waste Division;

  • Write, review, and update various documents, including letters, job aids, training materials, reports, policies, standard operating procedures, meeting minutes, and presentations; and

  • Support other program activities as assigned.

Minimum Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED is required.

  • At least 4 years of full-time related work experience is required.

Preferences:

  • A bachelor's or higher degree from an accredited college or university is preferred.

  • At least 4 years of work experience in data management is preferred.

  • At least 2 years of work experience in technical writing is preferred.

  • At least 1 year of work experience supervising or leading employees is preferred.

  • Work experience interacting directly with the public is preferred.

  • Work experience related to documenting business processes is preferred.

  • Work experience implementing new technology solutions is preferred.

  • Work experience using relational databases, SQL, and data visualization software is preferred.

  • High proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint is preferred.

Work Schedule:

The work schedule is Monday to Friday (37.5 hours per week). This position may be eligible for limited telework after completion of the probationary period.

Starting Salary Range:

$64,311.00 to $90,650.50 annually
