Join MITRE as a 2019 summer intern in the field of Business Process Innovation. There will be opportunities to learn about practical application of Business Process Innovation concepts at large government organizations. You may have the opportunity to determine what new capabilities an organization needs to achieve its strategy, what they should look like and how they can be developed. Or you may contribute your ideas to the definition of new products or services that will be offered including services to citizens, internal stakeholders, warfighters, and cross agency services. You work will influence what these should look like, and how should they be developed. You may be asked to analyze the as-is business processes, define the to-be processes and chart a course to close the gaps. In cases where the issues are more related to performance of current capabilities and processes, you may look for ways to better and more efficiently achieve the organization's goals.
Participate in and support a Business Process Innovation Team involved in the following activities:
Creation of artifacts and visualizations for use internally or with sponsors.
Research in BPM and innovation specific areas.
Maintenance and expansion of BPM and innovation knowledge bases through collaboration with and stakeholders.
Present at a Student Project EXPO.
Facilitate community of practice meetings or technical exchanges of MITRE and industry experts.
Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate (BS or MS) degree in Management Sciences, Information Systems Management, Business Analytics, Decision Sciences, Engineering Management, or other problem-solving disciplines and also meet the following requirements:
Demonstrated interest and/or experience in business systems and operations and desire to focus on how to design and manage complex operations and services of various levels of maturity.
Demonstrated interest and/or experience in business process management, business innovation, Lean Six Sigma, transition planning, or shared services.
Sustained excellence in academic performance (3.0 GPA or higher).
High level desire to help their nation solve its most critical problems.
Exhibits the characteristics of a continuous learner.
Ability to obtain or has already obtained US Gov't clearance.
