Job Description:

The Business Process Improvement Lead will act as the users' advocate, making global processes and systems more efficient and scalable. Additional duties to include:

  • Help Varian promote a process transformation community and culture.

  • Actively engage in and facilitate workshops and fora as necessary.

  • Provide process improvement methodology, coaching and training to colleagues who are participating in process improvement projects.

  • Mentor less experienced members of the process improvement team as necessary.

  • Develop relationships between business stakeholders and the IT Infrastructure Operations teams to facilitate process identification needs, improvements, and excellence for ongoing operations.

  • Work with management and cross-functional partners and delivery teams to:

  • Identify operational and systems risks, and process gaps.

  • Rationalize business requirements.

  • Prioritize opportunities for process improvement.

  • Formulate consensus on improvements.

  • Help build the right processes for Varian, that are efficient, scalable and proactively address internal needs for end-to-end integration.

  • Provide supporting process documentation as required e.g. process flows, instructional documentation, knowledge base articles, etc.

  • Define process implementations and support (whether being delivered through enhancements or projects), and effectively handover completed process work to delivery teams and project managers.

  • Provide continued support of the delivery and project teams implementing the process changes, and providing coaching and direction to ensure goals are achieved.

  • Maintain a relevant pipeline of process improvements for future work efforts.

Job Requirements

Minimum Required Skills and

  • Proficient in utilizing business tools such as: E-mail, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Experience with SAP or equivalent ERP product and productivity software desired.

  • Typical Education and Experience: Bachelors degree (or equivalent experience) and 8 years of related experience or Masters Degree with 6 years of related experience.

Business Summary The Business Transformation & Automation (BTA) team partners and engages with business functions across VMware in planning and driving functional change & transformation, by leveraging people, process, data insights, technology and governance. In this role, you will streamline business practices, transform & improve business processes, drive automation, implement governance models and develop an overall impactful narrative for the business. As the process architect, you will be a key facilitator across cross-functional teams of business stakeholders in Channel Sales, Field Sales, Operations etc., and focused on motivating change in key prioritized areas. The process architect will work with SMEs from various groups, driving collaboration, facilitating discussions, evaluating and analyzing options and driving targeted actions. The role will require strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work with cross-functional teams with different requirements and excellent program management and operations skills. Job Role and Responsibility A.Stakeholder Management & Business Engagement * Engage & collaborate with senior level business leaders across one or more business functions in Channel Sales (Distributors, Resellers, Service Providers, OEMs, Alliance Partners, SISO, Telco etc.), Field Sales, Product Management etc. * Partner with business leaders to drive business transformation, process change and innovation in support of our strategic objectives and operating plans that will positively impact growth, customer satisfaction, productivity and operational excellence * Collaborate with cross functional business units (as identified above) to drive end-to-end business, operational and technology capability, process standardization, simplification, consistency, maturity & effectiveness B. Subject Matter Expertise & Capability Management * Drive the overall VMware Channel Sales maturity, with specific focus on partner routes-to-market like Distributors, Resellers, Service Providers, OEMs, Alliance Partners, Telco, SISO etc. * Understand intricacies & complexities of creating a high-performing Channel ecosystem across both SaaS and Software(Perpetual) business models * Build, manage, and enhance business capabilities for the overall lifecycle for the Channel Sales ecosystem. Areas include Partner GTM Strategy, Partner Relationship Management, Channel Incentives, Development Funds, etc. Drive the longer-term roadmap. * Analyze existing Channel Sales business practices to identify weaknesses and develop opportunities for capability maturity & productivity improvements such as enhancing business processes, expanding capacity, reducing time & cost, and increasing overall effectiveness * Advocate and drive adoption of "standard methodologies" to ensure standardization across business functions in business process standardization, optimization and automation solutions * Drive effective business case definition, articulation of cost/benefit investment decision-making for initiatives * Lead process mapping and design workshops with business partners to establish a holistic understanding of key processes and assess opportunities for process improvements * Drive vision for overall change management and communication to stakeholders throughout the initiative lifecycle * Ensure delivery and implementation of capabilities to drive realization of business value C. Execution Collaboration and Partnership * Interact, consult and partner with functional leaders within BTA to ensure successful delivery of projects and business solutions designed to deliver on the business outcome to meet the business strategies and goals * Collaborate with business partners, business process architect and IT technical team to drive process optimization, capability architecture, scalability, optimization and automation Required Skills * 10+ years of consulting experience in performing a variety of planning, design & implementation initiatives in the areas of Channel Sales - Distributors, Resellers, Service Providers, OEMs, Alliance Partners, SISO, Telco etc. * 10+ years consulting experience driving transformation in a variety of business processes & functions in Channel Sales, with downstream Field Sales, Finance & Operations impacts. Transformation needs to include all aspects of 3Ps (People, Process, Policy), as well as technology. * Corporate & Digital Marketing domain experience (Campaign & Lead Management, Digital Marketing etc.) across SaaS and Perpetual Software business models would be a huge plus. * Creative thinker with experience in building partner relationships and managing expectations across different business functions, with a deep focus on Sales Transformation * Experience in translating and connecting business strategy to executable roadmap to enable business capabilities that align with objectives and goals * Strong process analysis and modeling skills along with ability to lead complex enterprise initiatives through business process integrations, converting business strategy into actionable objectives and measurable results * Experience with industry standard business architecture framework like TOGAF, BOST (ProAct), Zachmann, Gartner etc. to drive business optimization / maturity / scalability efforts is a plus * Validated expertise in devising and implementing streamlined business processes and strategic transformation, optimization and automation solutions to improve efficiency, automation, and productivity while reducing costs and growing revenue * Demonstrated track record of performing within complex organizations requiring strong influence management skills - ability to work collaboratively at all levels in matrix environment * Strong facilitation skills and experience in managing senior stakeholder (VP level and up) relationship, partnership and interactions Preferred Skills * Excellent management, organizational and planning skills * Strong background in lean six sigma, with black belt certification. * Self-starter who thrives in an ever-changing, dynamic business environment * Strong written and verbal interpersonal skills with capability to facilitate strategic business strategy, capability and architecture conversations with all stakeholders VMware is an Equal Opportunity Employer and Prohibits Discrimination and Harassment of Any Kind: VMware is committed to the principle of equal employment opportunity for all employees and to providing employees with a work environment free of discrimination and harassment.
