Department Overview

Our Applied Technology organization puts some of Motorola Solutions' brightest minds on unique, highly challenging projects. Job Description

  • Leads initiatives to map, analyze and make recommendations for change to complex business systems and problems to be solved with automated systems. Provides technical expertise in identifying, evaluating and developing systems and procedures that are efficient, cost effective and meet user requirements. Brings expertise or identifies subject matter experts in support of multi-functional efforts to identify, interpret and produce recommendations based on company systems needs. Advises business groups by providing technical and strategic direction to identify and address business issues and opportunities.

  • Map, analyze and model business processes as they are, compare them to the future and improved designs and determine the necessary changes for arriving at the improved state.

  • Design business processes and manage any subsequent changes to them.

  • Test and execute processes using the BPMS/BPEL or similar to ensure that the right results are achieved.

  • Write business process specifications to be used by the development team for process and system automation.

  • Examine processes holistically to understand the impact of changing them on people, strategy, existing software applications and general business operations.

  • Develop and track business process metrics.

  • Monitor and measure the effectiveness of processes to ensure consistent value delivery.

  • Proficient understanding of ERP and Shop Floor systems with other business processes a plus.

  • Proficient in Process Management Lifecycle tools and processes such as BPML/BPEL or similar.

  • Technical understanding of underlying software development processes and technologies to facilitate process implementation changes such as XML, BI systems and SQL Reporting. Basic knowledge of servers, databases, and other client side technologies.

  • Ability to prototype proposed or temporary process changes using MS Access/Excel VBA or similar is a plus.

  • Good written and oral communication skills.

  • Good interpersonal and consultative skills.

  • Analytical thinking and problem solving.

Basic Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain necessary security clearance as required by government contract.

  • Bachelors Degree required with at least 5 years experience in related field.

VIEW JOBS 10/19/2020 12:00:00 AM 2021-01-17T00:00 Zurich is currently looking for a Business Systems Analyst to work out of our North American headquarters in Schaumburg, IL supporting a portfolio of commercial and underwriting insurance applications as part of the Core Platforms Modernization team within Information Technology Services. This individual will work with the team to translate policy administration business requirements into technical specifications for application updates related to projects, enhancements and compliance needs while working in an Agile environment supporting the design, construction and implementation of these updates to the applications. The ideal candidate will be an individual that is an energetic and a skilled professional requiring minimal supervision, can lead others, and will serve as the liaison between the Business and IT. The BSA will also have the ability to work with the business and technical resources to address business information and the application needs. Other responsibilities may include: * Having a working knowledge of relational databases, preferably MS SQL Server * Ability to understand complex transactional processing standards required for premium allocation to support statistical and financial reporting * Assisting with formulating and defining systems (system configuration) scope and objectives through research and fact-finding combined with a basic understanding of business systems and industry requirements * Guiding users in building business cases, performing impact analysis, and supporting application testing, implementation and training activities throughout the process * Assisting with creation & refinement of design (mockup) on new functionality * Supporting the development team * Working with BA & Project Team to develop & present/communicate technical concept alternatives, integration decisions, issues, plans * Providing strong analytical skills that allow for identification of defects related to data characteristics * Evaluating project impact through consultation with the business, regulatory / compliance, information technology management, development, quality assurance, validation, and training teams * Analyzing insurance circulars and filing materials and translating into functional requirements * Reviewing, augmenting and facilitating the development and execution of quality test plans to ensure test coverage meets the commensurate risk Basic Qualifications: * Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or Computer Science or Engineering and 8 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area OR * High School Diploma or Equivalent and 10 or more years of experience in the Information Technology area AND * Process re-engineering; LEAN/Six Sigma experience * Experience with process modeling tools * Insurance application system design/analysis experience * Experience with use case development * Experience with Rapid Application Development (RAD) tools/techniques Preferred Qualifications: * 2 or more years of experience working in a Commercial insurance or Underwriting environment or knowledge of insurance business processes and processing * 2 or more years of experience with Guidewire PolicyCenter * Consulting experience preferred * Supporting and performing testing as necessary to ensure requirements are met * Experience working with various delivery methodologies, specifically the Agile methodology framework, preferred * Advanced Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) skills * Familiarity with ISO standards and requirements as they apply to the management of applications and different lines of business * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills * Strong written and verbal communication skills needed; ability to tailor approach based upon audience and message Imagine working for a company that truly cares about their employees, customers, stakeholders, and communities they serve.
