The ideal candidate will support and enhance the effectiveness of Shoreview Special Operations processes through active involvement in the review and evaluation of important process tasks. In this role you'll support two bands of managers with data gathering and analysis as you hone your skills in Excel and PowerPoint. Job Responsibilities

  • Review and approve key decision points in the Ally customer experience and/or within a specialized process.

  • Query and consolidate data requests in a timely fashion using SQL, Avaya, and other tools.

  • Perform both preventative and detective quality assessments and evaluate opportunities for root causes.

  • Manage and coordinate call center phone scheduling to ensure appropriate coverage throughout core business hours.

  • Create and facilitate training as needed.

  • The ability to provide analysis of trends and recommendations for improvement to the business

  • Identify and propose projects and initiatives for consideration to management

  • Drive process improvement and efficiencies

  • Complete regular monthly tasks on behalf of the entire SOO including but not limited to logs, account reviews, analysis

  • Mentor, train, and advise new employees.

  • Meet and exceed objectives provided by leadership. KPIs may include, but are not limited to, data timeliness and accuracy, review/decision timeliness, and process and project level success measures.

  • Work evenings and weekends when required.

  • Limited direct management of people.

  • Miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Associate / Bachelor's degree in business related discipline is preferred; however, 4 + years in financial services industry may be used as a proxy.

  • Prior leadership and data analysis experience is preferred but education or experience may be used as a proxy.

  • Basic understanding of quality tools and methodologies required.

  • Discretion & strong ability to multi-task required.

  • Strong change management, time management, and multi-tasking skills required.

  • Strong organization skills required in order to manage projects, timetables and implementations

  • Product knowledge and process improvement skills needed.

  • Strong written & oral communication skills needed.

  • Familiarity with company policies & procedures and the broader auto finance industry required.

  • Strong decision making skills required.

  • Working knowledge of basic business software such as Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and SQL

The role includes preparation of state income tax estimated payments and returns, along with resolving corresponding state tax notices. Additional responsibilities include gathering and organizing annual state apportionment workpapers, assistance with state and local income tax audits as well as deferred tax calculations, monthly forecasting and other state income tax provision and compliance activities. The role conducts tax research and special projects that frequently involve a significant degree of complexity. Accountabilities: RETURN PREPARATION - Prepares unitary and separate company state income return workpapers and returns, supporting documents and attachments. Requires frequent interaction with Accounting, Finance and Business Units to accurately determine facts. Requires analysis and proper application of tax law and regulations to reflect and support company positions on the returns. Prompt and accurate follow-up to any tax notices generated by return filings and/or estimated tax payments. APPORTIONMENT - Gathers and organizes state income tax apportionment data, including property, rent, payroll and sales data for all domestic legal entities. Data is gathered from multiple and, many times, disparate sources, requiring analysis to determine validity and reasonableness of data. Sales apportionment analysis includes determination of proper sourcing methodologies applicable to each state and local taxing jurisdiction. ESTIMATED PAYMENTS - Prepares all state and local tax quarterly estimated payments, incorporating the most recent financial statements, forecasts and apportionment data. Includes proficiency with all applicable state EFT filing and payment procedures. OTHER - Other special tax-related projects as assigned, which could include federal and international compliance, processing of purchased state tax credits, assistance with gathering data for strategic state tax reviews performed by consultants, assistance with state income tax audits, and monitoring of state and local income tax legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments. ACCOUNTING - Assistance when necessary with monthly close process, including the calculation and booking of transfer pricing-related entries. Periodic involvement in state income tax effective tax rate calculations for both current and deferred state provisions. CASH FORECASTING - Directly involved in timely and accurate forecasting of Deluxe enterprise state income tax cash payments. CORPTAX ADMINISTRATION - Responsible for department-wide administration of our use of the Corptax software service. Complies with work requirements related to attendance and notice of absence, general conduct, and following work direction. Required: * Bachelors (or equivalent experience) in accounting * 3-5 years of State Corporate income tax. CPA would be a plus * Multi-state tax experience with medium-large corporate tax department or medium-large CPA firm * Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. * Strong accounting, tax research, communication, organization and self-leadership skills. Preferred: * Bachelors Degree in Accounting preferred * Experience within CPA firm preferred * Preferred experience with Corptax tax return software and SAP.
