Under the direction of the Director of Library and Knowledge Services and in consultation with the IT Applications Manager, create and maintain effective Knowledge Management content and design elements for legal and administrative departments. Develop and perform quality control reviews and related data integrity tasks. Locate, organize and provide access to internal and external information resources. Assist with communication and training efforts related to KM, and manage project tasks and timelines.
Assist Director to gather requirements and develop specifications for knowledge management / document management solutions that provide information design, content and functionality to meet the needs of practice areas develop project timelines and implementations plans to facilitate the sharing of knowledge and information within the law department.
Participate in focus groups and interviews with Firm personnel to assess information needs and to identify new areas of opportunity for KM to solve business challenges. Communicate user needs effectively to IT personnel and work jointly to design and implement KM solutions. Collaborate with other departments enterprise wide to determine and execute efficient workflows.
Stay current with KM trends in law and other industries, and with practice areas and business challenges and issues. Perform research to stay abreast of KM products and practices.
Develop instructional programs and documentation and deliver training on KM through a variety of media formats tailored to an audience of various sizes and skill levels.
Manage the classification, organization, and online access to various information resources from internal and external sources to ensure consistent taxonomies across platforms. Create and monitor metrics, usage reports and other measurements to evaluate effectiveness of information platforms and content.
Create and maintain legal practice groups intranet content to ensure that it is up-to-date and relevant, and provide training and support as needed.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a law firm Knowledge Management role, library, business development, legal practice, or related discipline
Proven record of accomplishments in KM, information or library science.
Advanced internet research skills, including knowledge of Lexis, Westlaw or other online legal databases.
Knowledge of KM goals, practices and products.
Understanding of the legal profession, including a basic knowledge of litigation and transactional practices.
Proven expertise in consensus, collaboration building and facilitation skills.
Strong client service attitude.

Highly developed organizational skills.
Polished presentation and interpersonal skills, for working with attorneys and staff.
Ability to work with a minimum of supervision, and to follow up and follow through despite tight deadlines and multiple responsibilities.
Knowledge of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and document management systems.
Familiarity with enterprise search software desired.
Elementary knowledge of graphical user interfaces and legal research.
