Overview of the Role

The Strategic Business Practices team protects Salesforce's long-term growth and success by ensuring deals, policies, and pricing promote good business globally. To accomplish our mission, we are seeking a Business Practices Manager to assess and manage commercial risk in our sell-side deals!

The Business Practices Manager will evaluate and approve commercial risk across business terms for sell-side deals. In addition, the role will involve helping to improve the efficiency and velocity of these deals. The candidate will work closely with groups throughout Salesforce, including Pricing Deal Desk, Legal, Revenue Recognition, Sales Operations, Tax, Security and Compliance, and Infrastructure Engineering.

The candidate must have a solid grasp on cloud license models and cloud contract terms. They must also be able to navigate internal processes, work collaboratively with cross-functional peer groups, and possess superior interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Review and approve business terms for sell-side deals on behalf of the Business Practices team.

  • Draft commercial terms in sales contracts and edit existing terms.

  • Spot risk or anomalies in complex commercial terms and escalate to accountable teams within Salesforce.

  • Work closely with our offshore services team to increase Salesforce's deal velocity and improve our customers' buying experience.

  • Help to develop and refine standard methodologies around commercial terms, deal review and approval, and related business processes.

  • Create and maintain training material and playbooks for the Business Practices team.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years demonstrated ability in business practices, deal approval, and/or deal support

  • Fluency in French, Spanish, and/or Portuguese is required.

  • Degree or equivalent relevant experience required. Experience will be evaluated based on the core competencies for the role (e.g. extracurricular leadership roles, military experience, volunteer roles, work experience, etc.)

  • Strong understanding of current business trends, contractual terms, and deal drivers in cloud industry

  • Strong ability to comprehend and evaluate the business risk in contract language

  • Comfort with making decisions in high pressure situations

  • Strong business insight, analytical and problem solving skills

  • Proven success leading and influencing at various levels across the organization

  • Highly effective written and verbal communication skills - able to explain complex concepts clearly and concisely across all levels of the organization

  • Ability to build relationships and work collaboratively to drive results

  • Ability to work independently in an undefined environment while managing and prioritizing competing demands

  • Adept at thinking on your feet amidst ambiguity

  • Ability to navigate discussions to productive outcomes *LI-Y

For Washington-based roles, the base salary hiring range for this position is $150,300 to $206,700.

Compensation offered will be determined by factors such as location, level, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Certain roles may be eligible for incentive compensation, equity, benefits.
