Job summary

Perform business planning and analysis in support of the Global Partners and Alliances (GPA) team. The Red Hat Global Business Finance team is looking for a bright and energetic Business Planning Analyst to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will focus primarily on planning, reporting, analysis, forecasting, and internal investing. You'll do this all in support of global decision-making around strategic and emerging routes to market, including independent software vendors (ISVs), internet of things (IoT), cloud service providers (CSPs), system integrators (SIs), original equipment manufacturers (OEMs), etc. You'll interact frequently with key leadership teams in the sales, finance, marketing, operations, product, and IT organizations from across the globe. As a Business Planning Analyst, you will have the opportunity to sharpen your quantitative analysis skills, to hone your presentation acumen, to demonstrate leadership, and to develop well-rounded business insight through working with seasoned senior leadership on impactful and far-reaching projects.

Primary job responsibilities

  • Provide analytical support and consultation for global and regional sales and partner leadership teams

  • Serve as a strategic business partner for key stakeholders in the GPA team

  • Work closely with shared services analysis team in India to guide net-new analysis requirements and facilitate development of reporting and insights

  • Use data analysis and modeling skills to guide and develop investment plans, identify new opportunities, and create and manage key performance metrics

  • In the short term, engage in data cleansing activities to ensure that sales data is consistent and accurate for management reporting; in the long term, train and transition these items to shared services data teams

  • Advocate for and streamline current reporting processes around partner tracking

  • Design and manage sales reports, analyses, forecasts, and dashboards

  • Compile, analyze, and interpret sales bookings data and third-party industry and competitive data

  • Design and manage reports and dashboards in (SFDC)

  • Work closely with operations and analysis teams regionally and globally to guide and enable data-driven decision-making

  • Facilitate engagement and communication among internal stakeholders for GPA initiatives and operations

  • Work with global, regional, and shared services operations teams to identify areas where we need tools and financial processes reevaluated

  • Refine and process monthly and quarterly analysis for stakeholders (QBRs, KPIs, etc.)

  • Develop relationships with operational counterparts at our partners' HQs, with internal regional counterparts, and with shared services team overseas

Required skills

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration or a quantitative field

  • Solid relationship management skills

  • 3-4 years of related professional experience

  • Solid spreadsheet skills with proven experience managing large data sets and performing analysis

  • Coachable, energetic, detail-oriented, focused, and diligent toward achieving results; ability to work as part of a team

  • Critical thinker who is willing to go above and beyond to provide business insights

  • Entrepreneurial attitude and problem-solving mindset

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English

  • Demonstrated solid customer service, interpersonal, and time management skills in a dynamic environment

  • Experience with using at least one data mining tool like SAP BusinessObjects (BOBJ) or SAS

  • Ready to work extended hours during periods of high demand like quarter or year end; this may include weekends

The following are considered a plus:

  • Experience with analytical tools, i.e., QlikView, Google Analytics, etc.

  • Previous experience in programming, scripting, or writing database SQL code

  • Basic understanding of SFDC and reporting in SFDC
