POSITION TITLE

Business Planner

  • Business Supply Chain Specialist

POSITION OVERVIEW

The position of Business Supply Chain Specialist will report to the Integrated Business Planning Leader for Milliken Chemicals. This person will have responsibility for developing, monitoring, and furthering the effectiveness of the global supply chains. The goal is to improve productivity, efficiency and reduce costs. This role will collaborate with other departments, such as the Business, Operations and Finance, to create effective business plans.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create the supply chain strategy for business served, monitor supply chains to proactively reduce risk, avoid supply disruption and improve supply chain strategies, to include costs, delivery, lead times, etc.

  • Key Participant in the Portfolio Management Review (PMR) step of the Integrated Business Planning Process including the below responsibilities:

  • Facilitating new product introductions through supply chain design, working closely with sourcing to secure raw materials, material master, forecast evaluation and review, and subsequent production plan creation.

  • Develop, analyze, and maintain stocking strategies.

  • Work closely with the IBP/Demand Planner to help ensure strategies are communicated and any new demand is captured.

  • Special project management: ie: service charters, inventory optimization, SKU rationalization, etc.

  • Collaborate with other departments to create coordinated plans for business growth.

  • Facilitate the Quality process, review and analyze to identify trends, report, and help to drive resolution.

  • Manage any major supply disruption working with the pertinent parties: business leader, procurement, supply, etc.

  • Ensure supply chain processes meet legal requirements and standards.

  • Domestic and international travel may be required up to 10%.

QUALIFICATIONS - REQUIRED

  • Bachelors Degree, technical or engineering preferred or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum 2-3 years manufacturing, chemicals, or supply chain experience

  • Can construct scenarios based on various sources of data to provide options to the team.

  • Knows the critical steps and processes involved in managing projects from inception to completion. Can track progress and move teams to complete goals.
  • Facilitation
  • Strong skills as a meeting facilitator, with the ability to keep a meeting on track while engaging all stakeholders and driving to a set of decisions that can be executed in the business.
  • Presentation
  • Is adept at constructing presentations for the team to communicate process, concepts, data, scenarios, and other critical information to facilitate teamwork and decision making.

Knowledge

  • An in-depth understanding of sales, demand planning and supply planning.

  • Working knowledge of the commercial side of the business, as well as operations.

  • Understanding of the new product development, new product life cycle and product-phase-out processes.

  • Exposure to, and understanding of, financial planning.

  • Understanding of supply chain flexibility, how it can be increased or decreased, and the associated costs.
