Job Purpose

The role of the Analyst Business Ops, Budget Management & Reporting is to develop and maintain the annual budget for managing the operation and projects of the Honda NA CRA division. The person in this role prepares Honda NA CRA organizational budgets to support short- and long-term business plans through budget forecasting and budget allocation. They handle budget requests and provide support in the build of business cases.

They deliver additional expertise on analysis and reporting of the overall Honda NA CRA budget.

Key Accountabilities

Data Gathering and Reporting: Knowledge of tools, techniques, and processes for gathering and reporting data; ability to practice them in a particular department or division of a company.

  • Prepares cost-benefit analyses of alternative approaches.

  • Analyzes complex reports as revealed by the data.

  • Teaches others the calculations necessary to capture data and develop more complex reports.

IT Service Financial Management: Knowledge of IT service financial management; ability to utilize processes, tools, and guidelines for overseeing and optimizing the costs and revenues for IT services.

  • Providing operational support for overall financial performance including reviewing and sharing all major budget adjustments.

  • Supporting budget owner with input to Fall Plan, Sourcing Models, and Financial Interlocks, with the goal of ensuring capacity is available and optimized.

  • Supporting with interfacing with IT Finance control on budget matters for CISO office.

  • Leads the design and implementation of chargeback, units of measure, and product cost.

  • Analyzes and presents pros and cons as well as types of chargebacks for IT services.

Budgeting: Knowledge of organization's budget process; ability to apply policies and practices for planning and administering a budget.

  • Managing the budget overview and accuracy for staffing, operating costs, and capital costs of the Honda NA CRA division.

  • Owning the overall Honda NA CRA budgetary allocation plan and supporting the budgetary audit.

  • Preparing budget reports for Honda NA CRA management and advising on budget accuracy improvement initiatives.

  • Uses organization's preferred budgeting software tools.

  • Compares planned budgets vs. actual expenditures, identifies, reports, and explains variances.

Budgeting: Knowledge of organization's budget process; ability to apply policies and practices for planning and administering a budget.

  • Managing the budget overview and accuracy for staffing, operating costs, and capital costs of the Honda NA CRA division.

  • Owning the overall Honda NA CRA budgetary allocation plan and supporting the budgetary audit.

  • Preparing budget reports for Honda NA CRA management and advising on budget accuracy improvement initiatives.

  • Uses organization's preferred budgeting software tools.

  • Compares planned budgets vs. actual expenditures, identifies, reports, and explains variances.

  • Works with business managers to create appropriate budget amounts.\

Business Orientation: Knowledge of business concepts, tools and techniques; ability to operate with a business mindset that complements one's functional specialty and keeps it in a business context.

  • Ensures upper management is informed of actual/potential financial problems in timely manner.

  • Create and manage budgets while dealing promptly with variances and other budget issues.

  • Develops buy vs. lease vs. build scenarios where appropriate.

Effective Communications: Understanding of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors.

  • Reviews others' writing or presentations and provides feedback and coaching.

  • Adapts documents and presentations for the intended audience.

  • Demonstrates both empathy and assertiveness when communicating a need or defending a position.

Qualifications, Experience, and Skills

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or related field.

  • Related Certifications (desirable): Certified Management Accountant (CMA), CPA

Other qualifying skills:

  • 3+ years of experience in budget management, financial reporting, or data analysis. Experience in a fast-paced environment with multiple deadlines preferred.

  • Operational Reporting: Knowledge of operational reporting concepts; ability to use operational reports to track, benchmark, and improve business processes.

  • Knowledge of a Specific Financial or Accounting System: Knowledge of functions, features and applications of a specific financial or accounting system and ability to use it to process daily financial and accounting tasks within the company.

  • Program Management: Knowledge of the policies and techniques to manage a set of related projects within a program; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control the set of projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve program objectives.

  • Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization.

  • Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Understanding the necessity and value of accuracy; ability to complete tasks with high levels of precision.

  • Business Case Justification: Knowledge of the how's and why's of preparing and justifying business cases and value propositions; ability to justify business expenditures by identifying cost, benefits, ROI, opportunities, and risks.

  • Knowledge of Organization: Knowledge of the organization's vision, structure, culture, philosophy, operating principles, values, and code of ethics; ability to understand the value of aligning capabilities with business goals to support optimal performance.

  • Data Visualization: Knowledge of principles, techniques, and processes of data visualization; ability to create high quality figures effectively for various business scenarios and storytelling.
