The Department of Marine Resources is seeking to fill a vacancy for a Business Operations Manager in Augusta.
BRIEF JOB DESCRIPTION: This is a senior management position in the agency, responsible for oversight of development, implementation, and compliance with the Department's financial and administrative functions, and advising the Commissioner's office on these matters.
The position directs and manages a variety of administrative and financial management functions for the Department. The position is responsible for:
Development, implementation, and compliance with biennial budgets and annual work programs.
Continuous monitoring of bureau finances and providing guidance on fiscal and administrative strategic planning.
Strategic development and oversight of agency financial systems, funds, and grants, including controls and reporting.
Development, implementation, and compliance of/with agency policies related to safety, training, facilities, and equipment management, IT resources and travel.
Managing critical relationships with all central service agencies of the State (including the Natural Resources Service Center).
Managing and overseeing agency staff handling procurement, contracts, and fixed asset management.
The successful applicant will be a strategic and solution-oriented thinker, strong supervisor of an established team, an effective communicator, and able to work with a diverse range of people.
Limited telework opportunities may be possible for this position subject to management approval.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: A 10-year combination of Education/Experience in Business Management, Public Administration, or other directly related field to include four (4) years of program management experience in financial or budget management. Related experience and/or training may be substituted for education on a year for year basis.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in state government in a managerial, administrative, or financial role.
