The Business Operations Manager is an integral member of the Global Media Operations (GMO) team responsible for optimizing business operations by identifying customer needs and helping develop improvement plans

This role will enforce the established standards and rhythm for projects, executive communication, training, business functions, and will partner with a direct vertical team within GMO to standardize and grow these concepts.

He or she will work closely with the leadership team to understand operations need and how to implement operating rhythms, enable process improvements, map out standards for reporting, and will monitor the health of the project portfolio.

Job Duties:

  • Support Global Media Operations to carry out business operations initiatives across each critical function.

  • Participate in development, management and ongoing execution of project management methodologies, processes and practices. Implement standards, tracking, and guidance for Project Portfolio Management and Planning

  • Establish an environment for /continued process improvement and learning, including Lean workouts and business training.

  • Prepare executive level communications, including operating reviews and status updates.

  • Manage internal project documents, data, and creation/maintenance of shared workspace.

  • Partner with and develop strong stakeholder relationships with business leaders - this includes working closely with GMO business units and facilitating cross functional teams.

  • Own the operating rhythm for the designated vertical team and work with the team in preparation for enterprise meetings

  • Engage with Director of Business Operations to establish standards for key business processes in GMO (such as training, seating, onboarding)

  • Work as the liaison with the business vertical to develop their KPIs and own control processes

  • Responsible for tracking and analyzing reports to determine where improvements can be made in the business

  • Partner closely with the GMO analytics team for development of metrics and standards based on operations need


Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Technology/Business Administration or equivalent work experience. Communications minor/focus is a plus
2+ years' experience in Project Management with delivery accountability
2+ years in Quality and Process Improvement (i.e Six Sigma/Lean)
2+ years' experience in a Business Relationship Management role
2+ years' experience with strong cross functional team leadership; must be able to articulate technical concepts and solutions to both a deeply technical and non-technical audience

Experience successfully communicating with senior management, both verbally and in writing

Experience with identifying customer needs, developing improvement plans, and being a change champion for the organization

Excellent interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively in high-pressure situations

Proficient with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio, Outlook

Desired Characteristics

Experience in US Media & Entertainment operations environment preferred

Experience in broadcast, asset management systems and digital workflows for video.

Strong technical, quantitative, analytical, organization, research, problem solving and presentation skills

Ability to lead and present program information in face-to-face presentations to varied audiences; including executive management

Strong team-building, vendor, and customer relations skills

Experience working in traditional project management and an Agile environment;

Able to build and present PowerPoint presentations to effectively communicate a message in a short and clear manner

Ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and communicate effectively with all stakeholders

The scope for this role includes the Production Operations for NBC Entertainment, Cable Entertainment, and TV Production studios. The primary role of the TV Business Operations Engagement Manager is to act as a liaison between business partners and IT Teams. They will perform as the subject matter expert (SME) for the business domain and conduct knowledge transfer with the development teams. This resource will be responsible for understanding, reviewing, analyzing and evaluating business partner needs. The TV Business Operations Engagement Manager is responsible for supporting projects across creative and business affairs and legal project initiatives. This includes meeting with the business, managing the analysis: gathering and documenting business requirements, managing design, testing and implementation of new projects as well as managing the on-going production support for new systems developed. This role will also be responsible for looking across upstream and downstream processes to consolidate systems accordingly. This includes collaborating with engagement managers and technical owners of these applications. This role will be responsible for understanding where business processes overlap and will need to be conscientious of the entire business lifecycle. This position will be based in Universal City, CA. Responsibilities include: * Engage with direct supervisor and technical application owners to understand and plan where application consolidation opportunities lie. * Manage the support and enhancements for existing custom applications which support the TV Production business. * Engage with business partners to identify needs and design in order to implement technology solutions to digitize manual business processes. * Product manager for a subset of the application portfolio including internal Java, .Net and Ruby custom-built applications and Salesforce. * Identifies new opportunities & services to enhance the systems' platform and drive more productivity. * Partners with vendors, consultants, internal development resources, client user groups, and others to develop requirements and project manage application development projects ensuring adherence to scope, schedule and budget. * Responsible for ownership and complete delivery of projects assigned. * Ability to work in a matrix organization and ability to lead project teams which do not directly report to them. * Work with the Technology Services team to support and troubleshoot issues (process, system and hardware), identify root cause, and proactively implement sustainable corrective actions. * Coordinate on-going system maintenance and upgrades with no disruption to users. * Ensure compliance with corporate policies, security and reviews. The TV Business Operations Engagement Manager will join a team consisting of high-performing individuals that execute on a broad range of activities, including elicitation and scoping, requirements analysis, systems analysis, functional architecture, interface architecture, and knowledge management. This is a hands-on role and is expected to have very strong analytical and problem solving skills and a project management background in systems development and experience with process improvement changes. This role should be able to perform rapid analysis and decomposition of complex business information into technical process components. This role is expected to be able to perform root cause analysis, work with the appropriate teams to perform root cause analysis and to provide next steps for resolution.
