Department Information

Following an organizational alignment in 2022, Georgia Tech established the Division of Lifetime Learning aligning the Center for 21st Century Universities (C21U), the Center for Education Integrating Science, Mathematics, and Computing (CEISMC), and Georgia Tech Professional Education (GTPE). The newly established Division of Lifetime Learning will provide education and research for new techniques, and technologies for education. The division provides accessible, affordable, achievable education for learners at any stage of life.

The newly established division is part of the expansion of Georgia Tech's ecosystem for lifetime learning. Furthermore, the division is going through a formal process of faculty and university system governance to become Georgia Tech's seventh college.

We are seeking a Business Operations Director to serve as the primary leader for the administrative functions within the Division of Lifetime Learning. The key deliverables for the role are to provide management and organization for the Accounting, Business Operations, Facilities, Finance, HR, IT Services, Logistics teams, including compliance activities.

This critical leadership role requires organization, communication, and collaboration with stakeholders in various areas and levels both within the division and across Georgia Tech. This role will help guide strategy across the division as well as report progress towards the goals. The individual in this role will need strong financial, communicative, and legal operational expertise.

Job Summary

The Business Operations Director role provides leadership, strategic consultation, and business workflow. This role manages business related functions for the unit; these functions will vary but may include IT, include administrative, human resources, finance, facilities, communications, etc. Duties are performed at various levels within the defined title.

Responsibilities

Job Duty 1 -

Oversee day-to-day operations of the business operations of multiple units in an organization, which may include budgeting, reporting, administrative operations, purchasing and human resources.

Job Duty 2 -

Advise and provide guidance to leadership on routine and strategic financial and budgetary functions. Advise and inform leadership of the financial implications associated with strategic and operational decisions.

Job Duty 3 -

Advise unit leadership on budget administration, budget maintenance, space planning, facilities and structural processes, IT, or other business operations.

Job Duty 4 -

Prepare budgets and financial reports for review by unit management.

Job Duty 5 -

Partner with leadership and unit management to implement institutional guidelines and practices regarding financial matters, including stewardship of resources and development of financial and operational plans.

Job Duty 6 -

Ensure department adheres to institutional budgetary expectations, in addition to appropriate and efficient usage of financial resources.

Job Duty 7 -

Develop short- and long-term financial goals and implement fiscal policies to support the financial viability of the organization.

Job Duty 8 -

May use data analytics tools and techniques to identify patterns in data, predict expected outcomes, and facilitate more informed business decisions.

Job Duty 9 -

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience

12 years of job-related experience.

Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Master's Degree in Accounting, Business, Finance, or related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Preferred Experience

14 year(s) of job-related experience.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

ABILITIES

Strong ability to manage and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations. Ability to perform and make important decisions effectively under pressure. Ability to apply Institute and USG policies to complex scenarios to ensure compliance and minimize audit risk.

KNOWLEDGE

Advanced knowledge of Fund Accounting. Knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and accounting procedures.

Knowledge of industry-leading Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems. Knowledge of the concepts, principles, and practices of management.

SKILLS

Effective management and leadership skills. Skilled with budgeting, planning, communications and customer service skills.

Proficiency with budget and finance related computer software and applications. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access).

Anticipated annual salary $155,169 - $211,030 commensurate with qualifications
