About the Team

The Akamai Platform Operations department is responsible for managing, monitoring, and maintaining Akamai's deployed network. As part of the Strategic Enablement Group, you will be working with a diverse collection of individuals responsible for projects and programs that enable continuous improvement within the Platform Operations department. In particular, the Strategic Enablement Group focuses on initiatives in analytics, quality, documentation, tools & automation, compliance, and disaster recovery.

About the Job

We are looking for a Business Operations Analyst to join our Data Science team in identifying, evaluating, measuring, and reporting on operational efficiencies. The Business Operations Analyst will be responsible for developing and presenting reports based on the thorough review and analysis of our current policies, resources, processes, procedures, and operational best practices. To be successful as a Business Operations Analyst you should be able to analyze complex data sets, identify shortcomings or opportunities, and work with management and employees to understand requirements. An outstanding Business Operations Analyst should be able to advise staff on all levels and develop new processes and workflows to enhance operations.


  • Identifying operational requirements and opportunities for improvement.

  • Gathering information by observing workflows, reading company reports, meeting with senior stakeholders, etc.

  • Determining appropriate methods to analyze operations, relevant information, and data.

  • Documenting findings, preparing reports, and making recommendations.

  • Developing new processes and procedures to enhance operations.

  • Working with managers and employees to implement changes.

  • Training employees to use new systems or follow new processes.

  • Determining the effectiveness of new processes.

  • Establishing and maintaining quality standards.

  • Ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.

Basic Qualifications

  • BS/BA degree and 5 years of experience in an Operations Analyst role or 3 years of experience with a Master's degree.

Desired Qualifications

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.

  • Mastery of Microsoft Excel o Proficiency with VBA preferred

  • Proficient at SQL and ability to read Python.

  • Experience preparing reports using Tableau desktop. Certification strongly preferred.

  • Consulting and project management skills.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Strong multitasking and time management skills.

The Position The Business Travel Data and Operations Associate, reporting to the Associate Director, Global Travel, will be responsible for aggregating metrics from various sources and creating management reports for stakeholders. The ideal candidate will possess excellent quantitative/problem-solving skills and have experience developing complex Excel spreadsheets. The incumbent will be required to convert detailed data into broad scenarios while clearly identifying assumptions and decision points using Microsoft tools such as Excel, PowerPoint, Visio etc. In addition to data analytics, the incumbent will also be expected to support supplier IT requirements, internal communication channels (synapse and Yammer), and assist in providing program support for stakeholders. Knowledge of the Biotech/Pharma environment, the travel category, and on-line booking systems such as Concur and Cytric would be beneficial. Ability to work with stakeholders, and manage multiple workstreams simultaneously, are integral to success in this role.
