The Business Office at Milligan University invites applications for the full-time position of Business Office Manager with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024. Reporting to the Sr. Vice President for Business & Finance, this position provides executive level administrative and clerical support to the Sr. Vice President for Business & Finance and supports other important functions of the Business Office.
Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Serving as the receptionist for the Vice President's office, greeting visitors, handling all in-person, telephone, and email inquiries, scheduling meetings, making travel arrangements and processing other correspondence, as needed.
Preparing various daily, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports (e.g., budget to actual reports, department expense reports, cash and deposits worksheets).
Supporting several major functions of the Business Office, including, but not limited to preparing daily deposits of all cash/checks received, securing and managing university credit cards, making journal entries to the general ledger, account reconciliation, maintaining annuity payments, and tracking charitable trust accounts.
Willingness to apply and hold TN Notary Public certification.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Vice President
Successful candidates should have an associate's degree or five years of related business experience. Candidates should also possess: (1) basic accounting and bookkeeping skills, (2) competency and proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office suite, especially Word and Excel, (3) excellent interpersonal and written communication skills, (4) excellent organizational skills to implement and coordinate efficient and effective office procedures, and (5) the ability to multi-task and be flexible in a fast-paced office environment. Successful candidates should also demonstrate a strong Christian faith and commitment to Milligan's mission as a Christian liberal arts university.
Primary duties and responsibilities would be performed in an office setting at a computer/desk during normal business hours. Essential physical requirements include the ability to ascend/descend stairs, and the person in this position needs to move about inside the office and throughout campus to access files, attend meetings, use office machinery, etc.
