CBS Television Stations consists of 29 owned-and-operated stations, including 16 that are part of the CBS Television Network, eight affiliates of The CW Network, three independent stations and two MyNetworkTV affiliates. DESCRIPTION:

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

A unique learning opportunity for 2020/2021 college students interested in pursuing a career in the TV Business Offices concentrating on the Newsroom environment; interns will gain valuable exposure and experience in areas of the newsroom.

PRIMARY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

NEWS INTERNSHIP PROGRAM

  • The Business Intern is someone who has an understanding of a several business aspects, as well as the desire to learn in a newsroom environment. The Business Intern will assist the News Business Managers in many aspects of the business office responsibilities.

  • Intern will be side by side with news department professionals, learning their craft and gaining valuable experience and knowledge.

  • Each internship will be for approximately 3 months/1 semester. The candidate who is selected must be enrolled in college. This is a paid internship.

  • The Internship will be considered "at will" employees and the Program can end at any time during each three/six month period at the station's sole discretion.

QUALIFICATIONS:

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Currently seeking a Bachelor's or Master's degree, preferably in Business, Journalism or Communications.

  • Strong social media and writing skills are preferred.

  • Participation in college business offices/environment will be taken into account.

  • Previous internship or business experience is helpful but not required.

  • Excellent communication and computer skills are necessary.

Responsible for consulting to Information Technology and business management on applying technology to interest rates and credit derivatives business opportunities, planning, and implementation of cross-functional applications. Develops and maintains a complete and accurate understanding of how derivatives and corporate treasury business units conduct business. Develops and maintains detailed knowledge of business's current technology and infrastructure from a functional perspective. Aware of and influences future technology capabilities and strategy around front office functions, pricing and risk calculations. Provides senior level consulting services to internal business groups on large process improvement projects designed to improve business results. Works with senior business stakeholders to identify, refine, and document business needs using techniques like business process modeling and use case development. Assists and at times, may lead clients and technical staff to investigate, analyze, and resolve complex application problems related to system functions like market data, real time risk and PL calculations. Often first point of contact for user support and problem solving. May manage projects. Frequently interfaces with business lines, including management, and/or internal resources to ensure quality, timeliness, and testing of all project/release work. Works with, and sometimes leads, technology and application development teams to design or select solutions that appropriately meet the business needs for large and complex projects. Reviews and coordinates execution of test plans for multiple projects. Looks for opportunities to improve testing process.
