JOB SUMMARY Under the direction of the Manager, Central Business Office, the Business Office Clerk is responsible for sorting all correspondence coming into the Central Business Office, organizing and maintaining files, scanning, accurate electronic retrieval and photocopying of Explanation of Benefits (EOB), sending secondary claims, accurate deposit of credit card/check payments via bank credit card machine, posting credit card payments, responding to phone messages and providing information as requested or properly authorized. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Education: High School Graduate. Experience: N/A Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Education: N/A Experience: One (1) year clerical experience in a medical business or insurance office. Licensure/Certification/Registration: N/A KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to sort alphabetically and numerically. Ability to do multiple tasks at one time efficiently. Numerical aptitude and ability to perform accurate, detailed work. Good communication skills, phone etiquette and positive customer relations behaviors. Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to prioritize and complete tasks in a timely manner. Ability to initiate appropriate action to resolve billing questions or problems. Ability to maintain patient and client confidentiality. # READING - Basic: Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. WRITING - Basic: Ability to write simple correspondence. SPEAKING - Basic: Ability to speak simple sentences. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS - Basic Skills: Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10#s and 100#s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. REASONING ABILITY - Intermediate Skills: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
