Overview
This position exists to support efforts of market research, strategic business development, validate market needs and trends to support the category manager shape the strategic direction of product development to drive revenue through the category. This position interacts directly with sales, engineering and operations teams as well as with our digital marketing/marcom team. Duties include day to day problem solving, market research, identify key growth drivers and formulate a conclusion regarding next steps. Support and perform tasks of the new product development process. Work with marketing teams to develop sales tools, collateral, training materials, and demos. Work closely with the Product and Engineering teams to support and develop strategic plans based on stakeholder inputs.
Candidates must have excellent communication skills, good problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work collaboratively across the organization.
This position would be ideal for someone with really good technical skills looking to pursue a career in business and marketing product development.
Pay range for this position is $25/hr.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Partner with Global Product Category Manager to influence the short and the long term product road and manage current portfolio, roadmap development and life cycle management
Support and perform research to identify the Available and Serviceable market
Identify and size new whitespace opportunities in terms of product positioning, offering and adjacency categories that complement the existing portfolio
Understand competitive set, perform SWOT analysis and get a grasp of the category trends and VOC. With manager support, develop the concept, positioning, portfolio differentiation, name and pricing of new products
Partners with PD on Pre-Stage Product Roadmap and support Product Gates activities while managing some active projects as needed
Conduct market research and data analysis to identify insights, needs and opportunities
Deep dive into new consumer targets with the Insights team, deeply understanding their wants and needs
Support commercialization efforts and go to market strategy by working with the marketing team and category manager, to identify the features & benefits, build product launch slides, collateral materials, specification sheets, installation instructions, provide website content support and digital strategy input as needed
Help collect and validate information to identify the needs for internal testing and data collection to support product growth
Primary dashboard oversite in the forthcoming product development process via stage gate intra-company software program
Perform other related duties as assigned

Qualifications
Education:
A.S / B.S. Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing with a related Engineering/Engineering Technology Degree or demonstrated experience in a similar Manufacturing environment
Degree in relevant technical and/or business degree
Experience:
0-4 years' experience
Experience in market research and understanding basic macro-economic trends
Technical savvy and passionate about marketing, business development; from market/customer engagement
Strong computer skills and analytical skills
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Great interpersonal skills and ability to network across cross functional teams
Curious and open minded, flexible and willing to learn
Good technical aptitude, presentation skills and interpersonal soft skills
Must be hands on and able to work in a highly collaborative environment
Basic knowledge of project management, product development process and manufacturing operations and capabilities
This role shall be based in Bal Seal HQ (Foothill Ranch, CA).
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Power Point and Excel including handling of pivot tables
