Business Manger to North America COO

About the role:

The Business Manager for North America will provide support to the NA COO in the execution of the NA rhythm of business and the varied projects that exist across the portfolio.

The Business Manager will help create and drive strategic activities and projects as defined by the NA COO, collaborating with various corporate function and leadership teams as appropriate. Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, driving the NA executive rhythm of business, supporting executive communications, driving the annual business planning process, supporting the annual budgeting process, and driving implementation of executive projects and programs.

While some of the work in this role is establishing and ensuring adherence to a regular rhythm, the remaining time is spent on driving complex special projects that require the individual to balance multiple inputs and facilitate sometimes difficult discussions among stakeholders, all while ensuring the project stays on budget and on time. For both the regular rhythm and the projects, a deep knowledge of Avanade's business is necessary, as is the ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects for multiple stakeholders.

Day to day you will:

The NA COO will engage the business manager to facilitate or drive strategic projects in support of the business priorities, objectives and metrics. For example, the Business Manager may be called upon to participate in a cross-functional team to evaluate and then execute a corporate acquisition.

He/she might be asked to drive a restructuring of a major business organization or re-architect a key business process. Thus, the right person for this role is someone who will dive into a project without hesitation and who can find the right "sources" and subject matter experts with minimal direction from the executives.

Coordinating with cross functional teams and managing stakeholders. Most of the projects the Business Manager will undertake will, at some level, involve coordinating with other teams, whether it is within North America or at the company (global) level. It is critical that the Business Manager anticipate these interactions, build in appropriate time and process to incorporate their feedback, and ensure consistency as appropriate.

Defining and driving the rhythm of the business for the NA Leadership Team. This is done in collaboration with the key executives and involves (but is not limited to): designing a rhythm of meetings, calls, and other communications that are aligned to shared team norms and will allow the leader to drive team objectives; driving the schedule for these regular sessions and owning the creation and archiving of supporting materials; program managing action items including assigning actions, tracking progress, providing regular updates to key executives and flagging actions that need escalation; and connecting the teams' rhythms with the over-arching rhythm of the North America business.

Driving meetings and training. In addition to serving as "host" for the NA Leadership Team calls and meetings, the Business Manager will be called upon to collaborate with executives on the content of the meeting and then drive the agenda for all team in-person meetings/training.
