Business Manager
Gray-New Gloucester ~ District Wide
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Management, or Finance
Supervisory and management experience in a business office setting
Knowledge of and experience in Maine school financial practices and procedures
Working knowledge of and experience in standard computerized accounting systems, databases, spreadsheets, software and other information systems germane to public schools and the business world
Ability to present understandable financial reports for public consumption

Job Goal: To administer the business affairs of the school district in such a way as to provide high quality school services with the financial resources available.
Performance Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively and in conjunction with the Director of Operations and Finance on all aspects of school district business management.
Maintains the operation and management of the financial affairs of the school district through the utilization of generally accepted accounting practices.
Is knowledgeable about professional best practices and legal requirements in the field of accounting and business management.
Management of budget expenditures.
Assist in the development of the school budget in coordination with the Director of Operations and Finance, administrative team and school board.
Coordinates, oversees, and assures all required financial reports are completed and submitted to the Maine Department of Education and other state and federal agencies.
Provides administrative support and maintains oversight for state and federal grants and other grants and funding sources.
Works independently and with other administrators to apply for grants and external funding sources.
Works to ensure a comprehensive annual audit is completed by a reputable firm or agency.
Manages the proper receipting of revenue and manages the district's cash flow and cash flow projections.
Assists in the management of student activity funds and provides staff training to ensure policies and practices are implemented as intended at the building level.
Manages school district insurance programs.
Works collaboratively with the member towns of the school district on budget referenda.
Implements and enforces school district financial policies and procedures.
Prepares, verifies, and distributes budget documents and reports to the administration and school board according to set schedules.
Monitors the school district payroll and benefits process to assure proper legal, contract, and budget constraint compliance.
Monitors the work of the human resource specialist and human resource processes and procedures.
Monitors the work of the accounts payable specialist and processes and procedures.
Acts as an advisor to the Director of Operations school board, superintendent, and administrative team on all matters concerning school district finance.
Participates in relevant professional development to maintain necessary skills for the position of Business Manager.
Attends and participates in school board, administrative, and other meetings at the discretion of the Superintendent.
Participates in appropriate professional development for the maintenance of business management skill sets. Advises the payroll specialist, human resource specialist, and accounts payable specialist on important and relevant professional development opportunities.
Performs other functions within the school business management realm at the discretion of the Superintendent.

Work Year: 260-day contract
