Rutgers University- Newark (RU-N), an urban public research university and anchor institution, located in Newark, New Jersey, a city of promise is seeking a Business Manager II SPVR. Working independently within broadly defined objectives, is responsible for the management of
daily operations encompassing a wide range of business activities, including finance, budget, and
grant accounting, as well as the administration of policies, and academic support.
This position is responsible for and not limited to the following:
Oversees the administration of various budgetary aspects for RBS Departments Centers, Bureaus and Institutes.
Analyzes and reviews financial data; forecasts and develops budgets.
Prepares or oversees the preparation of various financial reports for Sr. Associate Dean and Dean's Office.
Provides guidance and counsel to RBS Departmental Administrators and RBS Business staff in managing and resolving financial issues, consistent with an understanding of the mission and vision of the University and the role and goals of RBS.
Interprets, develops, communicates and implements policies and procedures.
Monitors fiscal compliance and understands and enforces applicable regulations (e.g.
State, Federal, Grant and University), and internal policies.
Ensures security of funds received and disbursed by implementing and auditing procedures for proper controls and timely deposits/ disbursements.
Ensures the accurate and timely completion of documents for the creation of
accounts and processing of financial transactions.
Performs professional work consistent with a comprehensive understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices (GAAP), and a good understanding and application of concepts, theories, principles, practices, terminology and applied bases of accounting.
Provides recommendations to the Sr. Associate Dean and Business Manager regarding systems, best practices and problem resolution that rises to the level of the University Administration.
Acts as a liaison to ensure the integration of RBS Business activities
with corresponding functions at the departmental and University levels.
Position Status Full Time Hours Per Week Daily Work Shift Work Arrangement
Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22, this position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. The flexible work arrangements outlined in Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 are part of a pilot program that is effective September 1, 2022 through August 31, 2024. Therefore, there is no guarantee that this flexible work arrangement will continue beyond that date. Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or cancellation and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System. Qualifications
Minimum Education and Experience
Requires a bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, accounting or a related field OR an equivalent combination of education and/or experience that demonstrates comprehensive knowledge and understanding of generally accepted accounting principles and practices, accounting and financial functions, administration, work organization, administrative and fiscal management and coordination of multiple demands.
Also requires five years relevant professional experience in an accounting, financial or budgetary function, excellent communication and organization skills, and computer literacy.
Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Preferred Qualifications
University experience. Knowledge of Rutgers budget and accounting procedures.
Understanding of Cornerstone, SmartView, HCM & RCM.
High level of competency with Tableau and Hyperion.
