Introduction: North Star Charter School is seeking a dynamic and experienced Business Manager to join our team.

As a charter school dedicated to providing high-quality education to our students, we are committed to excellence in all aspects of our operations. The Business Manager plays a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and effective management of financial resources, human resources, and overall vendor management. This position reports directly to the COO and collaborates closely with our contracted Finance Director.

Responsibilities:

1.Finance Functions:

Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the charter school, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, and cash flow management.

Collaborate with the Finance Director to develop and monitor annual budgets, ensuring alignment with the school's strategic goals and financial sustainability.

Processes payroll, accounts payable, and accounts receivable activities, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations.

Conduct regular financial analysis and forecasting to inform decision-making and identify opportunities for improvement.

Coordinate with external auditors and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with financial reporting requirements.

Assist COO in financial and stewardship components of fundraising and development activities.

Process and ensure due diligence on deposits, receipts and stewardship of the highest quality. Maintain database of accurate donor records and contact management systems.

2.Human Resources (HR):

Manage aspects of human resources administration, including recruitment, hiring, onboarding, payroll, salaries, and ensuring all state department of education requirements are met.

Develop and implement HR policies, procedures, and programs to support a positive work environment and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

Administer employee benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, and leave policies, in coordination with external providers.

Manage and maintain personnel files.

3.Vendor Management:

Together with COO and designated staff, establish, maintain and update relationships with vendors and contractors, negotiating contracts and agreements to ensure favorable terms and cost-effective solutions.

Evaluate vendor performance regularly, identifying opportunities for improvement and addressing any issues or concerns in a timely manner.

Coordinate procurement activities for goods and services, following established procurement policies and procedures.

Monitor and track vendor contracts and expenditures, ensuring compliance with budgetary constraints and contractual obligations.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 5 years of experience in financial management, HR administration, and vendor management, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting.

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, budgeting processes, and financial analysis techniques.

Familiarity with HR laws and regulations, as well as best practices in recruitment, employee relations, and performance management in education.

Excellent interpersonal, communication, and negotiation skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders.

Proven leadership abilities, with a track record of building and leading high-performing teams.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, accounting software and HRIS systems.
