Business Manager
The Finance Department Business Manager is a vital part of the department leadership. The position has direct responsibility for all financial accounting and human resource operations within the department. This position oversees department travel and hosting operations and assists the department chair and other faculty as needed. Additionally, this position directly manages other part-time permanent staff and approximately student employees and indirectly manages up to 150 additional student employees. The Business Manager oversees external department outreach, including communications with alumni, donors, and academics from other universities; furthermore, this position liaises directly with other colleges, departments and personnel throughout the university. This is an on-campus position with important interaction with students, faculty, staff and visitors. It requires attendance at department, college and university meetings as required.

What you'll do in this position:
Manage and approve departmental expenses, ensuring compliance with university policies.
Oversee travel and event logistics for department functions, including the annual Red Rock Finance Conference.
Execute accounting transactions and prepare account reconciliations.
Collaborate with faculty and staff on financial policies and procedures.
Address inquiries related to accounts payable and receivable, ensuring efficient resolution of discrepancies.
Coordinate job postings and HR processes, assist with recruiting, and manage employee records.
Support faculty in tenure promotions and annual reviews
Oversee the creation and dissemination of departmental communications to various stakeholders.
What qualifies you for this role:
Required
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or Business-related area plus one year of related work experience or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience working in HR and understanding of general HR principles.
Preferred
Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance plus three to five years professional experience in bookkeeping or accounting, payroll, payables, etc. or equivalent combination of education and experience
Experience with BYU accounting systems, processes, and procedures
Experience with HRM system, HR process management
Awareness of laws and government regulations impacting HR programs
