Job Posting:JR100595 Business Manager (Open)Department:Auxillary Services, PMPosition Type:RegularOpen Date:01-09-2025Close Date:03-09-2025$90,000 - $100,000Job Description:The Business Manager serves as the day-to-day financial manager and leader of a complex division that includes disparate functions including student dining, catering, concessions, vending, Bowie Card, bookstore, event ticketing, and copy/print services. The Business Manager oversees scheduling and coordinating all major repairs for all auxiliary services operations.

The position also leads the inspection of all facilities within auxiliary services and facilities (spaces) used for conference and event services. The inspections are completed with a small staff of student employees. The Business Manager maintains all financial data in the Revenue Vision software.

Also, the position assists the Associate Director for Business and Auxiliary Services with coordinating, compiling, filing and researching data while presenting the final product in a concise form.Responsibilities: Business Analysis & Reporting: Review and analyze financial business practices, policies, and procedures.

Monitor business activity and workforce distribution; prepare financial reports and budget analyses. Produce monthly performance dashboards and issue analysis reports with recommendations for improvement. Accounting Functions:

Prepare and review financial statements and reports for accuracy and compliance with accounting standards. Monitor and reconcile accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely processing of invoices and payments. Assist in preparing annual audits and coordinate with external auditors as needed.

Develop and implement internal controls to safeguard financial assets and ensure compliance with university policies. Research and report on account expenditures, budgeting, and personnel activity. Review reconciliation reports and maintain documentation related to transactions, particularly for the Bulldog Card.

Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions and assist in month-end closing processes. Procurement & Equipment Management: Handle procurement activities for all Auxiliary Services units; process and monitor requisitions and purchase orders.

Schedule major repairs and oversee the installation and maintenance of food service equipment. Manage equipment inventory and schedule preventative maintenance and repairs Administrative Support: Assist the Associate Director for Business and Auxiliary Services by coordinating, compiling, and presenting data concisely.

Produce technical and confidential financial reports related to Bulldog Card transactions and provide guidance for the Blackboard Transaction System software and hardware. Participate in special projects, perform detailed operations analysis, and contribute to the comprehensive annual report of Auxiliary Services. Provide superior customer service to students, faculty, alumni, and visitors; respond to inquiries and concerns Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications: Successful candidate must possess working knowledge of procurement and accounting rules and regulations. He/she should be able to demonstrate the ability to effectively operate software including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, internet and PeopleSoft Financial.

The candidate is required to have the ability to effectively deal with deadlines, work in a fast-paced environment, track transactions, and resolve disputes and to prioritize multiple projects simultaneously. He/she should be detail oriented with well-developed planning, organizational and problem-solving skills. Excellent customer service skills and the ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing are additional requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications: The business manager is responsible for managing a wide array of functions and responsibilities in the busy, multi-faceted Office of Auxiliary Services. The chosen candidate must therefore demonstrate skills and outcomes in the following core functions:

Leadership – Ability to guide teams, manage conflicts, and make strategic decisions that impact thousands of students, hundreds of faculty, and a myriad of other stakeholders. Financial Management – Demonstrated budgeting skills, including accounting, reconciliation, forecasting, and financial planning capabilities combined with an irreproachable commitment to ethical business practices. Communication – Clear, professional communication across all levels of the organization, including up to senior-level administrators and down to lower-level employees, some of whom may be BSU student workers.

Project Management – Ability to plan, execute, and oversee projects efficiently and effectively, within a clearly defined budget, and in accordance with other parameters set forth by the university and other entities. Problem-Solving – Skilled in identifying issues and implementing effective solutions while communicating effectively, engaging key stakeholders, managing fallout, and learning from paste challenges to prevent them in the future. Analytical Thinking – Be able to gather, collate, synthesize, and use data from a variety of sources to continuously improve processes and outcomes Negotiation – Possess the skills to effectively cultivate, nurture, ad manage business relationships throughout the surrounding communities.
