Scope

Overall, supports the Business Intelligence (BI) Lead and will manage and lead a team of BI Developers who will be responsible for developing a BI solution with key analytics in order to add value to the organization. This Business Intelligence Manager and team will partner closely with Finance key stakeholders.

The role will work alongside a team of highly capable and technically proficient developers in order to produce more insightful business analytic applications.

Projects may involve optimization / redesign of existing processes and documents, as well as a ground-up approach on any new initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Overseeing and driving analytics capability through our current business intelligence tool set

  • Working closely with a variety of internal stakeholders to maximize the use of our Business Intelligence platform and provide key insight to drive the decision making process

  • Drive improvements in business insights, identify efficiencies, and create a culture of self service in the organization

  • Support the creation of BI center of excellence which will share best practices on analytics, data analysis, data mining and data discovery

  • Promote the value of key analytics and sound data management through the BI center of excellence

  • Lead and shape the best practice concepts around data analysis, data mining and data discovery

  • Support key stakeholders in a timely manner, understanding the importance of excellence in service and communication in order to build strong business relationships

  • Work with advanced analytics tools in order to bring more insightful analytics to the business

  • Coaching, mentoring, and developing staff, including any new recruits, to meet senior management expectations on productivity, quality, and targets/goals

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Understanding of data layouts and relationships

  • Understanding of IT concepts, data analysis, data mining and data discovery

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in insurance industry

  • Experience in finance, financial analysis and analytics

  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing stakeholder requirements

  • Strong problem solving and creative skills and the ability to exercise sound judgment and make decisions based on accurate and timely analyses

  • Be a strong team player

  • Self-starter who strives to deliver quality and accuracy

  • High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation

  • Strong communications skills both oral & written and ability to practice both downward and upward communication

  • Have a flexible, positive approach to work
