Business Intelligence Engineer, Next Generation Developer Experience

Help us define the next generation development experience for our customers! We are looking for someone to glean insights from our developer tools, including the newest Amazon Q, the Generative AI-based assistant announced November 2023.

The AWS Business Development & Go To Market organization is looking for a passionate, results-oriented Sr. Business Analyst/Business Intelligence guru to own defining, building, and scaling metrics and analytical insights that will measure the success and drive the day-to-day behavior for the AWS BD & GTM organization. In this role, you will work closely with members of the organization to ensure we are capturing and surfacing the best data and information to make optimal business decisions and communicate findings and recommendations to the AWS executive team. Successful candidates will be analytical with business acumen, and detail driven with excellent problem solving skills.

You will work with Program Managers, Product Managers, and other stakeholders to elicit requirements and desired business outcomes, to ensure that clear business needs are the starting point for our engineering and data work. The successful candidate should also have a technical proficiency in ETL, SQL, Tableau/QuickSight or other data visualization tools to be self-sufficient in data retrieval, transformation, cleansing, analysis, and visualization. You should be driven by a curiosity for data, willing to dive deep to understand, and be passionate in socializing business impacts driven by data

The ideal candidate will be an effective written and verbal communicator with executive audiences and have an exceptional background in data analysis and be expert at producing digestible business intelligence and actionable information for others.

The candidate should also have strong project management skills, enabling them to work with key business stakeholders to understand requirements and shape deliverables. He/she should have a keen ability to think strategically and analytically about business, product, and technical challenges, with the ability to work cross-organizationally. A sense of ownership and Bias for Action is a must.

Key job responsibilities

Responsibilities for this role include:

• Develop a deep understanding of sales metrics, reporting tools, and data structure in order to identify and drive resolution of issues, provide actionable intelligence with existing metrics or identify, develop, and propose new metrics, dashboards, scorecards or new tools

• Attend business reviews to aid in shedding light on key metrics and insights that help aid our customers and our business.

• Develop relationships and processes with sales, finance, HR, sales operations, and other functional teams to identify and address reporting issues.

• Manage and develop financial tools or reports that align, and simplify, monthly business reviews, annual planning, and forecasting processes

• Generate ad hoc and monthly recurring financial and operational performance analysis, based on the needs of the stakeholders

• Provide recommendations through ad hoc data retrieval and analysis from data management systems

• Create new tools and business processes that simplifies, standardizes and enables operational excellence.

About the team

The next generation developer experience team focuses on how customers build on and for AWS. We analyze patterns of customer behavior, provide product feedback, and identify go to market strategies across all development tools at AWS. We are recognized industry experts in software development and DevOps.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

• 5+ years of developing, negotiating and executing business agreements experience

• 5+ years of professional or military experience

• Bachelor's degree

• Experience developing strategies that influence leadership decisions at the organizational level

• Experience managing programs across cross functional teams, building processes and coordinating release schedules

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Experience interpreting data and making business recommendations

• Experience identifying, negotiating, and executing complex legal agreements

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $220,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
