Amazon's North America Sort Center team is looking for an experienced and motivated Business Intelligence Engineer with outstanding leadership skills, proven ability to develop, enhance, automate, and manage transportation network models using strong quantitative skills. The successful candidate will have strong data mining and modeling skills and is comfortable facilitating ideation and working from concept through to execution.

The position will partner and drive operational excellence with Finance, Engineering, Operations, Technology, and upstream and downstream partners to design and develop data infrastructure and visualizations that move the business forward through better informed decisions even in the absence of clear guidelines. This role will also build tools and support structures needed to analyze data, dive deep into data to determine root cause of operational issues or challenges, drive process improvements, problem solving, build KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and metrics, un-earth opportunities and present findings and recommendations to business partners and management.

A qualified candidate must have demonstrated ability to manage medium to large-scale engineering solutions and tools that have ground-up impact on our systems and at the same time adaptable to the fast changing environment. In addition leverage statistical knowledge to explain business questions and drive growth, possess strong written and verbal communication skills, strong focus on internal customers and professional demeanor and high intellectual curiosity with ability to learn new concepts/frameworks, algorithms and technology rapidly as changes arise.

Additional responsibilities may include:

  • Manipulating/mining data from databases ( SQL Server, Redshift, Oracle DW)

  • Create automated metrics, reports and dashboards using complex databases, data warehouses and web application technologies

  • Partner with operations/business teams to consult, develop and implement KPI's, automated reporting/process solutions and data infrastructure improvements to meet business needs

  • Apply your deep analytic and business intelligence skill to extract meaningful insight and learning from large and complicated data sets

  • Collaborate with BI/Data Engineer teams and drive the collection of new data, data manipulation, synthesis and modeling, problem solving and the refinement of existing data sources to continually improve data quality and communication of insights and recommendations

  • Providing analytical network support to improve quality and standard work results

  • Root cause research to identify process breakdowns within departments and providing data through use of various skill sets to find solutions to breakdown

  • Foster culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback, and metrics
