Role

Amazon Go is looking for a BIE with strong technical skills, business acumen, project management skills, and a passion for operations excellence. This is a new role on a new BI team providing back end support for Amazon Go.

In this role you will help define and build out a forecasting function for an internal support operations team. You'll work directly with our software development teams and our ops and finance teams, and collaborate with researchers and other analysts across the business.

You will be creative in building, maintaining, and improving forecasting models with limited historical data. You'll collaborate with stakeholders across business, operations, and technology to understand the problem space and look for ways to innovate, and thoughtfully create recommendations to get buy in from senior leaders.

You are passionate and results driven. You are obsessed with the power of data to inform high impact decisions and to contribute to the development of high-performance teams and a bar-raising customer experience.

You know and love working with business intelligence tools and can partner with customers to answer key business questions. You can take complex statistical models and explain them simply to leaders across operations, program, product and technology. You dive deep and are right a lot. You have the superior analytical ability and technical skills to come up with quick, innovative solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Quickly build a thorough understanding of the team and related technology.

  • Implement statistical methods to solve specific business problems.

  • Improve upon existing methodologies by developing new data sources, testing model enhancements, and fine-tuning model parameters.

  • Directly contribute to the design and development of automated forecasting systems

  • Build user-facing reporting tools to provide insights and metrics which rack forecast performance and explain variance

  • Collaborate with researchers, software developers, and business leaders to define product requirements, provide analytical support, and communicate feedback

We are hiring a Senior Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) to help us accelerate our efforts in delivering an evolving Flex business. This person will build new business intelligence solutions end-to-end. The ideal candidate will be passionate about working with big data sets and have the expertise to utilize these data sets to answer business questions and drive growth. The primary responsibilities of this role include: * Design, develop and maintain scaled, automated, user-friendly systems, reports, dashboards, etc. that will support our analytical and business needs * Use analytical and statistical rigor to solve complex problems and drive business decisions. * Write high quality SQL code to retrieve and analyze data from database tables (ex. Redshift, MySQL, Oracle), and learn and understand a broad range of Amazon's data resources and know how, when, and which to use and which not to use. * Develop queries and visualizations for ad-hoc requests and projects, as well as ongoing reporting. In addition to leading the design, development, and management of our analytical tools and reporting, we will also look to this person to provide thought leadership and business analysis support as needed.
