As a Web Data Engineer, you will join a newly formed team whose mandate is to build and maintain foundational data infrastructure essential to driving Square's revenue growth and accelerating seller acquisition. You will work closely with marketing analytics, business intelligence, and platform engineering teams to build best-in-class data pipelines and processes that stitch together complex sets of data stores and drive large investment decisions. Your work will have a direct impact on hundreds of stakeholders at Square.

You Will:

  • Be the expert on end-to-end data flow for website data

  • Design, build and maintain critical data pipelines to ensure highly accurate and reliable business reporting

  • Monitor daily execution, diagnose and log issues, and fix business critical pipelines to ensure SLAs are met with internal stakeholders

  • Bridge gap between business requirements and ETL logic by troubleshooting data discrepancies and implementing scalable solutions

  • Make data model and ETL code improvements to improve pipeline efficiency and data quality

  • Own data import/export pipelines and incorporate into existing workflows to enable reporting and optimization efforts

  • Make underlying data architecture improvements and integrating new data sources

You Have:

  • 2-4 years experience in a data engineering or business intelligence role supporting Marketing or Sales organizations

  • Expertise in SQL, especially within cloud-based data warehouses like Snowflake, Google BigQuery, and Amazon Redshift

  • Experience with collecting and processing event-level or web analytics data from sources like server logs, Google Analytics, and Adobe Analytics

  • Experience with ETL scheduling technologies with dependency checking, such as Airflow, as well as schema design and dimensional data modeling

  • Experience with Linux/OSX command line, version control software (git), and Python/Ruby

  • Strong business intuition and ability to understand complex business systems, data architecture, and software design patterns

  • Excellent communication skills, particularly when explaining technical matters to less technical co-workers

  • Experience with Tableau and Looker data visualization technologies is a plus

  • BS degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or a related technical field

As part of this exciting and important endeavor, UCSF is seeking a highly qualified Senior Tableau Developer. Enterprise Information Analytics vision is advancing UCSF's ability to care, heal, teach and discover by providing ubiquitous access to relevant and high quality information and analytics. We do this by working with our clinical, research, education and business customers to organize, integrate and govern UCSF's information assets and then develop targeted data sets and analyses that provide important insights. Job Summary The Senior Tableau Developer will serve as the technical expert for the use of Tableau's BI solution set and will oversee Tableau product's configuration, operation and use. This will include serving as the expert in using Tableau BI product set to develop and implement high impact BI dashboards and Analytic work products. This position will oversee the ongoing support of these products, including mastering their use and administration, patching and upgrades, education and training, and access control and security. Additionally, the Senior Tableau Developer many also participate in developing analytic work products using tools such as Qlik, Business Objects, and Cognos.
