We're seeking a Business Intelligence engineer with expertise and passion in working with large data sets, data visualization, experience bringing data from disparate data stores to programmatically identify patterns in the data. You should have deep expertise in the design, creation, management, and business use of large datasets. You should have excellent business and communication skills to be able to work with customers to develop and define key business questions, and to build data sets that answer those questions. You should be expert at designing, implementing, and operating stable, scalable, low cost solutions to flow data from disparate storage systems into centralized data store and into end-user facing applications. You should be able to work with business customers in understanding the business requirements and implementing reporting solutions. Above all you should be passionate about working with large data sets and someone who loves to bring both structured and unstructured datasets together to answer business questions and drive change. You will provide guidance and support for other engineers with industry best practices and direction.

  • Design, implement and support a system that can provide ad-hoc access to large datasets

  • Interface with business customers, gathering requirements and delivering complete insightful solutions

  • Tune application and query performance using SQL

  • Partner/Collaborate across teams/roles to deliver results.

  • Be responsible for overall reporting models, schedules, reliability, and performance.

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent degree.

  • Excellent knowledge of SQL and Python with at least 4+ years of experience in RDBMS or columnar databases.

  • Excellent Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and big data concepts.

  • Experience in ETL and databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets.

  • Experience in gathering requirements and formulating business metrics for reporting.

  • Outstanding analytical skills, excellent team player and delivery mindset.

  • Redshift experience a plus.

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS

  • Experience with data visualization tools such as QuickSight, Tableau

  • Strong verbal/written communication & data presentation skills, including an ability to effectively communicate with both business and technical teams.

Viewers are shifting from traditional TV viewing to OTT and web publishers are increasingly adding video content to their on-line experiences. The Video Demand team is responsible for ensuring that Amazon Advertising can meet our advertisers' needs on video so that Amazon can be a primary advertising technology partner for them. Advertiser Success, one of the main programs housed in the Video Demand team is responsible for the commercialization of our video demand ad products. This program mission is to ensure that impactful video advertising solutions are made available to our customers globally and with maximum effect - by collaborating within and outside the Video Demand business unit. Within the Advertiser Success Program, we are standing up a Product and Consumer Insights (PCI) function. To support this function, we are looking for a Business Intelligence Engineer to be a key team member. The Product Business Intelligence Engineer (PCI BIE) will be tasked with developing queries and internal dashboards to support scalable and continuous measurement of critical business KPIs. The BIE will collaborate with Finance/Measurement to ensure these metrics can also be populated into WBR and financial reporting. Critical data that does not flow into an accessible data sources (ADW, URR, FDCM) will be documented by the BIE, surfaced to the teams that own the piping or data source, and escalated when needed. If engineering resources are needed for developing measurement signals, the BIE will collaborate with the appropriate product manager and ensure any new tracking requirements are included in the product documentation. This role will also support the advancement of an analytics practice in the broader video demand organization. Core Responsibilities * Build data pipelines to enable new metrics; Create and track key advertiser and viewer adoption metrics. * Build data systems that leverage diverse data sources to provide a comprehensive view of product adoption across all customer segments. * Conduct cohort level analyses; develop growth and retention monitoring dashboards. * Present findings and recommendations to business leadership. * Recognize and adopt best practices in reporting/ analysis: data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation. * 4+ years of relevant work experience * 2+ years experience with relational databases and fluency in SQL and Excel * 2+ years experience working with very large and disparate data sets * 2+ years experience with automation of data ETL pipelines * 1+ year experience in scripting using Python and command-line tools * Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Information Technology, Mathematics, Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, Data Science etc. * Experience in digital advertising preferably in video advertising formats * Familiarity with technical aspects of programmatic digital advertising including industry standards and best practices * Experience with AWS solutions including Redshift, QuickSight or other similar technologies such Tableau or Cognos * Skilled at data visualization and presentation * Ability to distill problems and constraints from informal business requirements, to be comfortable dealing with ambiguity and competing objectives, and to craft an analytic approach to solving the issue * Ability to work across cross-functional teams and communicate complex output in oral presentation and written form Amazon is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
