Responsible for the development and execution of NASSCO's data warehousing strategies.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND DUTIES
Works directly with the business community to understand the functional requirements and translates them into technical requirements.
Designs and develops recurring and ad-hoc business intelligence solutions such as cubes and dashboards using industry best practices for presentation, efficiency, and user friendliness.
Extracts operational, performance, statistical and other data from various information systems.
Designs reports to aid in the efficient assimilation of information by engaging exception reporting, traffic lighting, heat mapping, etc.
Troubleshoots/enhances existing SQL reports.
Develops and maintains security for the end-to-end solution (warehouse to presentation layer).
Leads the analysis, diagnosis and documentation of problems related to Business Intelligence and leads their resolution.
Collaborates with PMO to develop sound project plans and participates in the execution of each phase of SDLC.
Leads the development of user and system application documentation.
Supports colleagues with guidance related to warehousing and/or BI development.
Actively participates in implementing and monitoring continuous improvement initiatives to improve safety, improve quality, reduce cycle time, and reduce costs.
Additional responsibilities and duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of education/experience is required.
Minimum of 7 years of working experience with data warehouse design, multi dimension cubes construction, and business intelligence solutions development is required.
Experience with building dashboards with Tableau and/or Microsoft Power BI is required.
Experience with architecting and developing ETL processes that integrate data from multiple sources and format is required.
MCSA SQL 2016 BI Development certification is preferred.
Experience with Alteryx or similar tool is preferred.
Ability to work effectively with various groups in developing solutions to problems.
Demonstrates strong analytical and organizational skills, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Must be self-motivated and take a proactive approach to responsibilities.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel objects, or controls, and to talk and hear. Must be physically able to walk to all yard locations. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
