The HR BI and Analytics Partner is a full-cycle, consultative BI and Analytics professional - with the ability to scope enterprise BI and ad-hoc analytical projects; execute the project; and present back observations and insights to stakeholders (from the Executive and Board level to front-line HR and business leaders). They will support the delivery of the HR strategy by querying workforce and survey data; manipulating/ combining/ "munging" it; and developing observations and insights from analysis rooted in data. Then, they will package consumable observations and insights to support HR and business leaders in making data-driven decisions. The HR BI and Analytics Partner should be curious; able scope/shape stakeholder problem statements; capable of digging into the data for non-obvious or counter-intuitive insights; and be both detailed-oriented and able to see the big picture.
Solving HR problems through problem statement identification, analysis of data, and development of observations and insights for delivery/presentation to executives and leaders.
Querying data from multiple sources and then join/integrate/"munge" it into datasets suitable for analysis.
Applying descriptive statistics and basic predictive analytics to HR data, to develop strategic and operational insights for workforce decision-making (e.g., staffing; learning and development; talent management; diversity, inclusion, equity & belonging; and performance management).
Preparing and delivering presentations/information products that are audience appropriate (from the Executive and Board level to front-line HR and business leaders) and that meet stakeholders needs. Deliver observations and insights in the context of a compelling narrative (story-telling).
Required Skills, Experience, and Education
Education: Bachelor's degree in Economics, Business or other BA/BS with some quantitative or analytical component. Equivalent work experience to be considered in lieu of higher education.
Experience: 3+ years of relevant work experience
Fluency using Excel's advanced formulas (including array formulas), and using excel as a prototyping tool (plus, sometimes as a delivery method to stakeholders).
One or more of the following: SQL, PowerBI/PowerQuery/M, PowerPivot/DAX, and/or Tableau/Prep for data querying, extraction, and munging.
Some knowledge of relational databases (e.g., JOINs, CTEs, and windowing functions; some light query tuning - e.g., when indexes are appropriate - is a plus but not required).
Familiarity with HR data and HR systems like Workday, SuccessFactors, etc.
PowerPoint for internal communication and as an Executive stakeholder deliverable.
Strong consultative skills and business acumen: ability to engage with stakeholders and elicit the fundamental "question behind the question" in analysis scoping.
Ability to dig into the data for non-obvious or counter-intuitive insights.
Demonstrated ability to communicate recommendations and strategically influence across a broad range of users, stakeholders, and management.
Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills required. The BI and Analytics Business Partner must be able to adapt their communication style for all levels within the organization.
Preferred Skills, Experience, and Education (or interest in learning)
Familiarity with cloud computing data and analytics desirable but not required: GCP preferred but also AWS and Azure.
Some R or statistical Python (numpy, pandas, scikit-learn) preferred (or: SAS, Stata, or SPSS command line).
Text analysis or Natural Language Processing (or interest therein) desirable but not required.
This is not a hard-core Data Scientist or AI/ML Data Engineer role; that said, BI and Reporting professionals looking to grow their skill set/tool box into a consultative Analytics role are encouraged to apply.
This is an onsite position that can be located in Springdale, Arkansas or Chicago, Illinois
Travel: 1-5 domestic trips per year.
