Salary Range: $70,000- $80,000 annualized, commensurate with education, experience and qualifications.
Hours: up to 40 hours per week, exempt.

Essential Functions
Job Summary
Function: Supports data analytics, financial analyses, project management, and process improvement. Bridges the gap between data and business decisions, and serves as a strategic resource, providing actionable insights that drive informed decision-making and improve business performance.
Scope: Supports Academic Affairs Finance and Administration team, university leadership, and Academic Affairs partners with financial and operational matters as described below.
Core Responsibilities
- Creates and implements Business Intelligence (BI) solutions, data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
- Collects, maintains, and interprets data, analyzes results using various techniques, and provides ongoing reports.
- Acquires data from primary and secondary data sources and validates data for institutional stakeholders.
- Provides and coordinates collection and processing of data for various types of ad hoc reports and surveys, especially related to financial planning and analysis, to improve decision-making.
- Collects, processes, analyzes, and verifies data and data sources in support of key internal and external projects.
- Evaluates and identifies gaps in operational processes, in partnership with SME's and Provost Financial & Operations teams, to make recommendations/lead discussions for streamlining improvements. Captures process steps from start to finish through process maps and diagrams to visualize current and future workflows, and determines how improved data and communication will improve operational efficiencies.
- Manages multiple projects at a time, ensuring progress, and measuring the effectiveness of implemented solutions.
- Identifies, analyzes, and interprets data trends or patterns in complex data sets and presents them to institutional stakeholders.
- Implements and delivers BI and data management projects on time using a disciplined project management approach.
- Provides institutional performance monitoring, information gathering, and reporting.
- Collaborates and effectively communicates with institutional stakeholders to inform projects and ensure alignment in achieving goals.
- Assists leadership in leveraging data to prioritize business and information needs.
- Coordinates responses as assigned for institutional information that may be received from the UT System Board of Regents, UT System administration, state, and federal agencies, and/or other governmental or regulatory entities.
- Maintains comprehensive documentation of data sources, methodologies, and analysis procedures, and ensures that documentation is kept up-to-date and accessible to relevant stakeholders.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Economics, Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business Statistics, or a related field.
- Proficiency with Excel and business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, etc.).
- Three (3) years of experience in a position requiring data analysis or related duties and responsibilities.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational skills in identifying and prioritizing work activities.
- Attention to detail and ability to deliver high-quality work.
- Proven ability to work well in a team setting.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities concurrently.
- Ability to manage multiple projects at a time with structured steps and timeline.
- Proven ability to be a self-starter/independent worker.
- Strong knowledge and experience with reporting packages, databases (R, Python, SQL, etc.), and programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL Framework).
- Strong knowledge and experience with business intelligence tools and statistical packages for analyzing databases (Power BI, Excel, SPSS, SAS, and/or related).
- Technical expertise in data modeling, analysis, database design development, data mining, and segmentation techniques.
- Demonstrated ability to review business processes and translate them into BI reporting and analysis solutions.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Adept in data visualization, queries, report writing, and presenting findings.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to multi-task within a team oriented environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree from an accredited institution.
- Experience and knowledge with financial or budget planning software and reporting structures (Hyperion, PeopleSoft, etc.).
- Five (5) years of experience in a position requiring data analysis or related duties and responsibilities.
- Analytics, finance, or project management credentials.
- Experience in an academic research administration setting.
- Knowledge of UT System rules and regulations.
- Experience with AI, machine learning, or large language model tools.
- Experience with streamlined business process methodologies (e.g., lean, critical path, six sigma, Agile, Scrum).

Working Conditions
- Office environment.
- Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.

Physical Demands:
- Sedentary work; sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required, only occasionally.
- Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally.
This position will require working both remotely in Texas and on campus (approximately five or more days on campus per month). Travel and parking expenses are the employee's responsibility. Applicants must be adaptable and open to working in both environments.
