SUMMARY

With minimal oversight, the Logistics Business Analyst II will coordinate the development of small to large scale projects from conception to implementation. This position will analyze, design, and document system requirements with business area(s) sponsoring the project. Acts as the liaison between business owners, technical analyst, IT and application vendors throughout the project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct and manage development for small to large scale projects and ongoing enhancement requests.

  • Track project deliverables using appropriate tools by identifying and managing project dependencies and critical path.

  • Present reports defining project progress, risks, problems and solutions.

  • Work directly with technical analysts, IT and application vendors to transform and develop design requirements throughout all phases of the project from system design to implementation.

  • Analyze business processes and data to help determine how new technology can satisfy business needs.

  • Under limited direction of management, project managers and/or senior team members work closely with technical analyst, IT and application vendor to transform and develop design requirements throughout all phases of the project from design to implementation.

  • Organize and participate in design review sessions to gather business requirements for new projects, enhancements/improvements to existing functionality, and issue resolution.

  • Elicit requirements through interviews, business analysis, workflow analysis and data analysis.

  • Collaborate with business area and technical experts to establish the technical vision and analyze tradeoffs between usability and performance needs.

  • Drive and challenge business units on their assumptions of how they will successfully execute their plans.

  • Analyze and verify requirements for completeness, consistency, comprehensibility, feasibility and conformity to standards.

  • Develop and manage deployment plans and assist in development and execution of test plan.

  • Facilitate user integration and acceptance testing of supported applications.

  • Assist web server administrator with application installation and validation.

  • Some travel by car and/or air in conjunction with local, regional and/or national travel, up to 20%.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Self-directed requiring minimal oversight and the ability to mentor less experienced staff.

  • Prior experience with large-scale organizational process improvement efforts desired.

  • Understand the components involved in running a successful project.

  • Strong analytical, organizational and project management skills.

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.

  • Knowledge of all phases of software development including requirements analysis, design, testing (integration, user, and performance), implementation and support.

  • Excellent communication skills with ability to relay information well in both written and verbal form.

  • Able to recognize potential assignments outside own areas of specialization and apply appropriate business technology related expertise as necessary.

  • Ability to interact professionally with a diverse group, executives, managers, and subject matter experts.

Responsibilities * Primary role is to facilitate the definition and scope for platform and/or client new development and enhancements that meet stated product or client business needs. * Work with account management, product owners and tech teams to develop and review requirements, propose and document solution design and approach. * Create documentation on the existing system and maintain documentation which includes current state of system flow. * Manage individual release sprints, contributing to the management of the overall development roadmap. * Communicate between Account Management, Development, QA and Production Support to Roadmap release planning * Support the business of new product development and existing product enhancement and facilitate IT's ability to respond with a 'Rough Order of Magnitude' (ROM) specific to design, development, resources, costs and schedule estimates; * Ensure business requirements are translated well into epics and stories and is reflected in the technical design; * Deliverable responsibilities: Scope, Business, Functional and Technical Requirements/Specification Documentation, Prototypes and Process Flows and project documentation artifacts. * Ensure Delivery of planned initiatives on time with quality. * Ensure teams follow lnComm standards and best practices * Technical design and analysis of business use cases in preparation for development. * Able to quickly adjust and support changing priorities per business needs. * Effective verbal and written communication * Problem solving skills and the ability to work with innovative solutions * Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess complex situations and understand key issues * Work effectively in a team environment to produce good quality and timely results * Customer Service orientation with the ability to effectively interact with users of all levels * Able to proactively address system issues that have potential impact for the corporation * Strong research, analytical, and troubleshooting skills Qualifications * 5+ years of System and Business Analyst experience in IT. * Bachelor's degree in a relevant field of education or an equivalent combination of education and work experience * Ability to grasp technical understanding of a project quickly, see the big picture and drive to the project to completion. * Ability to lead large, complex development project discussions with minimal assistance. * Possesses general understanding in the areas of application programming, database and system design. * Scrum certifications are a plus * Strong communication and personal skills. * Ability to lead discussions with cross-functional teams. * Delivers engaging, informative, well-organized presentations. * Communicates and follows-up regularily (face-to-face then email, email then phone, etc.). * Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (word, visio, powerpoint, excel, outlook, project etc). * Solid planning (forward thinking), development, evaluation/analytics and recommendation skills. * Experienced in successfully managing multiple initiatives simultaneously. * Solutions oriented - holistic approach to problem solving and able to identify solutions to various levels of problems without compromising integrity of service; Both strategic and tactical thinker with business process mindset. * Document, share knowledge and train others. * Ability to think analytically and should be a problem solver. * Ability to gather and interpret relevant data and information. * Experience supporting internal and external customers.
