Business Information Developer Consultant

The preferred location for this position is the Indianapolis, IN office

but candidates from Denver, CO, Atlanta, GA, Midland, GA, Nashville, TN,

Virginia Beach, VA, Richmond, VA, Roanoke, VA, Tampa, FL,

Las Vegas, NV, Houston, TX and Mason OH

will also be considered.

The Business Information Developer Consultant is responsible for developing and executing more complex data mining analyses. Primary duties may include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and improve Microsoft Analysis Services cubes

  • Convert existing manual Excel and Access datasets/reports into Analysis Services solutions

  • Ability to follow functional ETL specifications and challenge business logic and schema design

  • Perform analyses and develop analytics tools to provide insight in to business performance

  • Consult with business partners on improvement opportunities identified through data analysis

  • Develop and maintain reporting and analytics related to Anthem's EDI and call center business functions

  • Develop and improve Microsoft Analysis Services cubes

  • Convert existing manual Excel and Access datasets/reports into Analysis Services solutions

  • Ability to follow functional ETL specifications and challenge business logic and schema design

  • Mine large, complex, and varied data sets for analytic findings

  • Responsible for working with departmental personnel to optimize reporting and analytic practices to realize efficiencies in the lights-on operations within the department.

  • Works closely with business partners to provide statistical analytical rigor in support of day-to-day and critical business decisions

  • Maintain documentation for all processes implemented

  • Adhere to coding standards, best practices, and contribute to the improvement of these best practices where appropriate, as well as manage their time effectively

  • Effectively communicate complex business concepts in to simple terms

  • This position is part of a highly interactive team. Strong interpersonal, relationship building, and team building skills are a must.

  • Requires a BS/BA degree (Computer Science or Information Technology preferred)

  • 4-5 years related experience; or any combination of education and experience, which would provide an equivalent background. PC, spreadsheet, and database skills, as well as experience in standard Business Information tools and programming/query languages is also required. (Oracle, SQL Server, DB2, Teradata).

  • The majority of time will be spent programming and developing analytics.

  • This job is more focused on very complex data mining analysis, coordinating the activities of a project team, and developing complex strategic report applications as compared to the Business Information Developer Senior job.

  • Ability to identify opportunities for creating efficiency in reporting processes (process improvement)

  • Extensive experience with the Microsoft suite of business intelligence tools required (SSRS, SSAS, PowerBI, SQL Server, SSMS, MDS, Tabular/Multi-Dimensional Models)

  • Working knowledge of EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) transactions is helpful but not required

  • Working knowledge of call center metrics and processes

  • Ability to work independently with limited guidance.

VIEW JOBS 1/15/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-15T00:00 Virginia Western, located in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains of the Roanoke Valley, is accepting applications for part-time, Health Information Management adjunct faculty positions on a continuous basis in the School of Business, Technology & Trades. Adjunct faculty positions are appointed on a course-by-course, semester basis as needed. Responsibilities include teaching developmental and/or college-level courses, which may include distance-learning courses during the day and evening, on weekdays and weekends. Faculty are expected to maintain currency in their teaching disciplines and in trends in community college education. Applications will be received and considered on a continuous basis, as openings occur. Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until needed positions are filled and/or the closing date of our announcement. Minimum Qualifications The successful candidate will possess expert skills, knowledge, experience and education in the subject area and a history of successful teaching or related experience. High school diploma or equivalent is preferred, Associate's degree or equivalent in health, health information management, or related field is preferred. Five years of current occupational experience in the field of health information management, health coding required. All Adjunct Faculty positions require excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, ability to write syllabi and exams, as well as the ability to work with students of varying abilities from diverse backgrounds. Preferred Qualifications Two years teaching experience; experience with on-line teaching. Bachelor's or Master's degree in health, health information management, or related field, preferred. Special Requirements Applicants who have degrees earned from educational institutions located outside of the United States are required to have their transcripts evaluated by a recognized credential evaluation service prior to applying for Faculty positions. If the transcripts are in a foreign language, applicants also need to have their transcripts translated prior to applying for job opportunities at Virginia Western.
